The Mayan civilization built there civilization by imitating ideas from the Olmec people. The Mayan civilization reached it's peak during 1200 and 500 b.c.e The landscape that the Mayan civilization lived varied greatly. 

During the classic period all Mayan people had their own class. The ruler was at the top of the social pyramid.The rulers advisers helped him rule the state.below the king was the nobles and priests. The nobles and priests were the only people in the Mayan civilization that knew how to read. below the nobles and the priests were the merchant and the artisans. The merchants were accomplished traders. The Mayan artisans made a lot of objects. below the merchants and the artisans were the peasants and the slaves. The peasants and the slaves were the most hard working of them all. but they were at the bottom of the pyramid which meant that they were the structure. without them the society would fall. 

The Mayan people believed in over 160 gods. There were gods like the god of rain and the god of corn. Most gods had animal characteristics like the jaguar was the most important. Mayan people pleased their god by doing human or bird sacrifices sometimes they would even do blood giving. Instead they took over colonies.Then made the people become their own and if someone didn't want to go with them they would be sacrificed for the gods.  Lots of cities had to pay tribute for the Aztecs. The Aztecs relied on tribute to support Tenochtitlan big population.

The battles that were won by the Aztecs helped tribute to the city Tenochtitlan. They would gain a lot of people some were used for sacrifices others were used for labor. The bodies that were going to be scarified was a threat to other cities if they didn't pay the Aztecs. All the males in the Aztec empire was trained to be a soldier if they were attacked. There weapons that they used were bow and arrows, spears, clubs, and sharp wooden swords with sharp stone blades. They had shields with drawings of animals to show their strength they would get from these animals. 
 
The Aztecs gave cities 60 days to agree to be allies and give the Aztecs riches and food.If they didn't want to the Aztecs declared war. Most wars needed with only on battle against the Aztecs. After the battle they would take the people to be slaves or to be an sacrifice. They would only make a few demands to the defeated cities. There was 10 million people living under the rule of the Inca. the Incas first settled in the area 1200 c.e. They expanded in 1438 when they were attacked by Chancas. There was a legend that the people descended from gods.
 
The Inca society was based on class. There were three broad classes, The emperor, his family, nobles, and commoners. As the empire grew the class structure grew more complex. The ruler descended from Inti, the sun god.  The king had many wives and children.
