The Battle of Britain, also known as the Blitz, was a major air campaign fought by the British Royal Air Force against the German Luftwaffe. The battle began when Germany began a sustained bombing campaign against Britain, with the goal of gaining air superiority and clearing the way for a ground invasion. The RAF responded with a determined defense, using advanced radar technology to detect incoming enemy planes and launching counterattacks against German positions. The Battle of Britain is considered a turning point in the war, as it prevented Germany from gaining control of the skies over Britain and forced Hitler to abandon plans for a ground invasion.

The German army advanced into France and quickly pushed the British and French forces to the coast. With the enemy closing in, the British launched Operation Dynamo, a massive evacuation effort that involved a fleet of naval vessels and civilian boats. Over the course of nine days, more than 338,000 soldiers were rescued and transported across the English Channel to England. The success of the operation was a major morale boost for the Allied forces, and is considered a pivotal moment in the war.

The alliance was created as a response to the growing threat posed by the Allied Powers, particularly the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. The three Axis powers agreed to cooperate in their efforts to expand their territories and spheres of influence, with Japan focused on Asia and the Pacific, Germany on Europe, and Italy on North Africa and the Mediterranean. The alliance proved to be a formidable force, with the Axis powers achieving early victories and dominance in many parts of the world.

The invasion of the Soviet Union by Germany, also known as Operation Barbarossa. While access to oil was one of the factors driving the German invasion, it was not the sole motivation. Germany had been preparing for war with the Soviet Union for years, driven by Adolf Hitler's desire for Lebensraum or "living space" for the German people. The invasion was also aimed at destroying Soviet military power and securing control over vast territories in Eastern Europe. The campaign began with a massive surprise attack by the German army, which quickly advanced deep into Soviet territory. However, the Soviet Union was able to mount a fierce resistance, and the fighting soon devolved into a brutal and protracted conflict that lasted until Germany's surrender in 1945.
