To all of those affected by gendered violence in any capacity, you will always have a space within our community to grieve, to heal, to rage, to cry, to simple be.

We believe you.

And to those we've lost, we will never forget you. There are no words that could accurately articulate such injustice but we will continue to do our very best to try.

We will continue to fight, together, until we no longer have to hold these vigils or write messages of condolences.

To all those who have endured sexual and gender-based violence, you are so loved. You are not defined by the actions of those who have wronged you. All of the darkness and evil in this world that facilitate systemic issues of sexism and violence are not your fault, and should not be your burden to carry alone.

I hope that you see the light at the end of the tunnel and the love that surrounds you in spaces like these. I hope that you know that we are fighting for everyone, whether they are still with us on this planet or resting somewhere else. We mourn and pay our respects to those who have passed, and are committed to fighting like hell for the living and for the generations to come.

Change doesn't just come from new policies or stricter sentences for perpetrators - it comes from total overhauls of sexist systems and institutions. That looks like calling for the abolition of private and elite residential colleges at universities, better education in schools, reproductive and menstrual leave in the workplace, normalising discussions of consent and power dynamics, and so many more things.

That is what we will continue to fight for, because you and we all deserve real justice, change, and accountability.
