A Power Junkie: He decapitated at least 12 of his victims, and kept some of the severed heads in his apartment for a period of time as mementos. On a few occasions, he simply broke into dwellings at night and bludgeoned his victims as they slept.

A Manipulator: He typically approached them in public places, feigning injury or disability, or impersonating an authority figure, before overpowering and assaulting them at more secluded locations.

An Egotistical Bragger: He sometimes revisited his secondary crime scenes for hours at a time, grooming and performing sexual acts with the decomposing corpses until purification and destruction by wild animals made further interaction impossible.

A Superficial charmer: Bundy was regarded as handsome and charismatic by his young female victims, traits he exploited to win their trust.

An Average Joe: Classmates from Woodrow Wilson High School told Rule, however, that Bundy was "well known and well liked" there, "a medium-sized fish in a large pond".

Gacy was beaten and insulted from a very early age by his father. He was compared unfavourably to his sisters and was beaten with a belt and knocked unconscious with a broomstick. Despite his father’s abhorrent treatment, Gacy loved his father. I feel this is a key point. Gacy was frequently beaten and yelled at without having done anything wrong. At seven years old he and a friend were caught fondling a girl and Gacy was subsequently beaten. Later that same year, Gacy was molested by a family friend and refrained from telling his father for fear of being punished. Gacy apparently had some sort of heart condition. Evidence of excessive childhood abuse.

 Gacy was very friendly with teachers and staff at school and was occasionally subject to bullying. Evidence of being a pillar of society.

Gacy was living in a mortuary and partook in necrophilia with the corpse of a teenage boy in secret, but right after this incident became the perfect “Average Joe”. He achieved the title of Key Man after working with the JC’s, then worked his way up to vice president. He was “highly regarded as a tireless worker”. He married a woman after a nine month courtship with her.

By way of blackmailing, persuasion, and manipulation, Gacy received oral sex from male teenagers and made some of them have sex with his wife. A master manipulator.
        He bragged about the times he went out to find young males to rape. He called these excursions "cruising".

Power Junkie: He liked to rape and cannibalize his victims, which he described as empowering

Manipulator: Used his persona in order to lure people into his car. He also would build his "gentle giant" persona by doing things like looking at his watch to seem non-threatening.

Egotistical Bragger: Kept the heads of his victims for days after the murder. Also turned himself in to be recognized.

Charmer: Was seen as innocent and non threatening by his victims. 

Average Joe: He convinced doctors that he had been rehabilitated and adding that to the persona he had, he seemed like a perfectly normal person.

Childhood: He was abused by his mother, tortured animals, and killed his grand parents by age 15
