This course had a big focus on diversity in literature. That is what I will take into the future, the importance of diversity in literature. Not only is diversity in literature good to expand our views on other cultures, but it gives students the opportunity to see their own culture reflected in books. Students can and will engage when they see literature that reflects their culture and identity. It allows them to feel important and feel heard. As teachers we must uplift our students by giving them confidence in their work and the ability to appreciate diversity.

In this semester I learned how to choose and analyze a book in depth. Books related to culture are important to children in the United States. If they have the opportunity to learn an excellent cultural relevant book in school, they will be in the future. There will be more possibilities to accept other cultures. This is essential to alleviate racial conflicts in the United States. And this study I also learned and contacted how to make a complete "reading record" many times. This let me know the importance of feedback to students' reading ability. Through the "reading record" feedback, we can better help students discover their problems in reading. This will be an important step for me to become a teacher in the future.

From the beginning of the course, I learned how to create a virtual classroom. I found that extremely interesting and innovative. I believe that would be easy for students and parents to navigate. Students are learning in remote settings due to the COVID 19 pandemic, and I believe that the virtual classroom will be very beneficial. In addition to that, I’m really glad I learned about reading records because it will help me assess my future students’ levels in reading. I learned about the importance of culturally relevant content and literature in classroom through a new lens. The whole concept of windows and mirrors is really important because it builds tolerance and acceptance in a classroom. The classroom should be a safe, fun, engaging learning environment for the students. These are things that I have learned and I will be taking this knowledge with me into my future career.
