Community Commitments are a set of agreements that individuals within a group (e.g., our learning community) make about how they will engage with each other. Their purpose is to help group members engage meaningfully with each other in ways that are both respectful AND foster growth. In this course, we’ll be discussing topics that have the potential to be challenging and sensitive in nature because they are related to aspects of difference, diversity, privilege, power, oppression, and marginalization. As social workers, we need to consider and grow from exploring these kinds of issues with others, therefore, these commitment are a central element of this course.
