the author believes that family should protect each other and stick together. I believe that because the entire time the group was together. Saying that the older sibling should look after his younger sibling. And also they were early in the book being protected by their family. The mom and dad did not let them go after when they got in trouble. And the older sibling protected the sister from the villain gecko thing i forgot the name of crushing the thing.
