Caterers can control amount of unhealthy food provided.

justification; bcos students have to eat during recess, they will eat whatever is given to them, not only does this eliminate the need to think of what to eat, but also what kind of food they should avoid.

+; students can alter the combination of food o=to suit their preferance!

innovative part; - customisability(?)

posters pasted all around the school especially canteen with thought-provoking statistics/estimating the amount of calories each type of food has, with the average amount of calories to be consumed per day stated at the bottom to remind people to watch their intake.

Justification: As many students do not know how much calories they are to consume, they do not control their intake, resulting in a higher risk of suffering from obesity. Thus, these posters serve as a form of advertising medium for students to understand the need to control their intake to prevent them from suffering from obesity.

(Jaryl)

have clear cups filled with the actual amount of sugar contained in the different types of drink (green tea, milo, etc) in front of the drink stalls to show the students the amount of sugar they’re actually consuming per bottle/cup of drink.

justification: as sugar intake is a contributing factor to obesity, it is important for students to have a visual representation of the huge amount of sugar/calories they’re taking in just for 1 drink. This would reduce the amount of drinks bought/ prevent students from buying more than 1 drink a day.

(edna)

1. we can put pictures of common snacks or desserts and how much exercising is required to burn those calories off.
example: a cupcake takes 30 minutes of running/ 1 hour of running to burn off

justification: this would make the student reflect if the satisfaction of eating the cupcake is worth the calories they're putting in their body and how willing they are to exercise it off.

2. to encourage students to exercise more/ take the stairs instead of taking the lift, we can place the posters beside the lift and staircases, telling then how many calories they will lose by climbing one flight of stairs instead of taking the lift

justification: this would encourage and promote talking the stairs instead of the lift as students would see the benefits of walking and not just think of how tired they are.

(edna)

Raising awareness of a healthy/right type of diet using a game

something like the game "the right mix". players will be presented with many different types of food, ranging from healthy to unhealthy food. players will then have to select a specific type of food combination to find the "healthier" combination, in which allowing the player to "win"/complete the game. However different combinations of food would lead to different funny/memorable outcomes of the player's character. Everytime the player fails to get the best/right combination of food, a mini health tip will pop up b4 allowing the player to replay the game.

^for me when i was young, i found "the right mix" pretty amusing and fun to pass time, trying new combinations which would lead to different type of funny outcomes.+ wif the mini health tip, this can raise awareness on the right type of food to consume.

Showing the effects of bad eating habits

ok this is abit dumb but ill shall just write it

so at the beginning you set your profile photo and enter in your height, weight and gender. then everyday whenever you eat something, you key it into your food log on the app. (the app will have the an estimated amount of calories per serving of the different foods). At the end of the day, the app will help you calculate the amount of calories consumed, the amount of sugar, carbs, etc for that day. The app then will be able to project how you'll look like in a month/year if you continue your eating habits. [basically it will make u look v fat]

justification: if we are able to see the actual effects of our unhealthy eating, we would more likely be inclined to change and eat healthier

^ok basically i got this idea from this app that i used to have as a kid called "fattify" where like you take a pic of yourself and there are options that can make you either fat or super fat and its legit so realistic. ya i actually got rly scared of being fat and ate less HAHAHAH

(edna)

Game booths

Game booths can be set up with prizes to be won to encourage students to participate in those games. Example of such booths can be using the xbox kinect with the infusion of modern technology + using it to encourage exercise, with such games like kinect sports or Just Dance. Another game can be beer pong, but with a twist that upon entering one cup, a question will be given to them to answer and if the answer is correct, they would be rewarded. This also allows students to acquire knowledge on how to manage and prevent obesity.

Justification: As obesity can be a result of lack of exercise, by introducing such game booths that students are likely to participate in, it is also a chance for them to get their daily exercise, and not dreading to do it. The incentivisation will also encourage them to participate in such booths, and they would also learn alot more about obesity.

Also in my pri sch we had this kinect booth that was open to anybody to use during our breaks to promote healthy lifestyle, and it was very popular among us

(Jaryl)

uk in the past, there have been like booths to show how much sugar or fat is present in food (like the number of teaspoons of sugar and cups of fat). so instead of just showing the number of teaspoons of sugar and cups of fat, it can be replaced with like a ball that is labelled (for eg chicken rice). then students can visit this booth and take the balls of the food they have consumed and place it into a machine, where the machine then will calculate the amount of sugar and calories, and then there will be a visual representation on the screen connected to the machine showing the sugar level and calories, with it generating tips if they were to exceed the required amount of calories to prevent obesity.

idk but this is a very wild idea HAHAHA but i’m just putting it here

(Jaryl)

we could collaborate with the school and create an app to encourage exercising among students.

Since most people have phones, we can make them download a step tracking app and sync it to the app we create and see the top walkers in the school. maybe like if you walk <10000 steps that day u only get 3 points, 10000-15000 gets 5 points, 15000-20000 8 points and >20000 10 points. We could make the competition like for every semester so people wont rly fake their results by shaking their phone cuz they'll get sick of doing it rly fast HAHA

We could also make it more complicated and somehow include their diet into the score (?) but like we can think of that part later

The competition can be between batches/class where the top 100 (for batch) and top 3 (for class) win prizes.

Collaborating with the school would increase the number of students willing to download the app as the benefits would be more attractive compared to just a random app. Prizes can include Raffles merchandise (such as shirts, griffles, etc.), giftcards, vouchers, or anything that youths find nice like uh free homework pass HAHAHA

(edna)
