         <description><![CDATA[<p>-Is celebrated because merchants carved festive radishes and sold them in the zócolo (town square) during the Christmas season over a century ago.</p><p>-Is celebrated by carving radishes and displaying them around the city.</p><p>-Is celebrated December 23</p><p>-Oaxaca traditionally carved wood, until the radish was introduced by the Spanish, and then farmers started carving the radishes to attract customers.</p><p>-The radishes carved during the festival can be grown up to two feet long and weigh up to 10 pounds.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>-Is celebrated because of Joseph and Mary's journey in search of a place for Baby Jesus to be born.</p><p>-Is celebrated by featuring a procession of carolers lead by a small child dressed as an angel, as well as food, warm drinks and piñatas.</p><p>-Is celebrated from December 16 to December 24</p><p>-In the evening, a child leads a procession through the town, which is usually made up of more children wearing gold and silver robes and carrying candles.</p><p>-Las Posadas originated in 1586 when Augustinian friars wanted to celebrate extra Masses and teach the native people about Catholicism.</p>]]></description>
