A kanban system is utilizes visual cues that tell you what, when and how much to produce. We can clearly see the progress.
It particularly works in the summer vacation homework, I can't finish one subject at a dash, and I can't remember the rate of progress for each homework. In order to not miss some homework, I can set 4 stages, put Math in "Backlog", put English in "Just Started", put Chinese in "Almost Done", and put History in "Finished". By use kanban, I can know that I already done my History homework,  should complete my Chinese and English homework, and should start   doing Math homework. 
In conclusion, Kanban shows each tasks in a production line, the product moving with the step it was in.
