In the literal sense to means to oversee a child's "case"/ implementation of their IEP, write their paperwork, monitor their progress, make sure their schedule is in line with their service and transition needs. On a deeper level it means to be their advocate, to build a trusting bond with the student and their family, to provide them with guidance as they grow as a student in their time here. A lot of times it means helping them learn life lessons, and ensuring they have the opportunities that will help them grow into the person they need to be to be independent and successful when they graduate high school.
