         <description><![CDATA[<div>The NAACP was the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. A civil rights organization founded in 1909 to fight prejudice,lynching,and Jim Crow segregation for the betterment of colored people.<br><br>CORE was an African American civil rights organization in the US that played a big role for African Americans in the civil rights movement. Established in 1942 CORE was also a part of the big four which included the SCLC, the SNCC, and the NAACP.<br><br>SNCC the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee was one of the most important organizations of the civil rights movement in the 1960's. Emerged from a student meeting at Shawn University.<br><br>The SCIC Southern Christion Leadership Conference was closely associated with Martian Luther King Jr and had a large role in the American Civil Rights Movement.</div>]]></description>

Williams led an armed defense against the KKK.<br><br>1963 - the "I had a dream" speech by Martin Luther King Jr.<br><br>JAN 1964 - The 24th amendment abolished poll tax.<br><br>JULY 1964 - President Johnson signed the civil rights act of 1964.<br><br>FEB 1965 - Malcolm X assassinated.<br><br>1968 - Martin Luther King Jr. was shot outside of his hotel<br><br>1988 - Override Reagan's veto, which expanded the reach of nondiscrimination  laws.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The 14th Amendment is broken this amendment states that all persons born or naturalized in the US and subject to the Jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the US. By not letting African Americans and other minorities have the same rights as white men breaks this law completely by not giving them the rights of american citizens.<br><br>The 15th amendment is the rights of citizens of the US to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the US or by any State because of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. By not letting African Americans vote takes  away this amendment completely from the African Americans and other Minorities no matter if they are American citizens or not.</div>]]></description>

The reason is because it gave them hope to stand up for what they believed in like the civil rights movement.
