         <description><![CDATA[<div>Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a genetic disorder which may also be affected by the environment. The severity of the disorder varies from mild to severe with a broad spectrum of skills and abilities.&nbsp; The main characteristics of ASD are the need for repetitive routines, and difficulty with social communications and interactions. A few characteristics which may indicate ASD are:<br><br></div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Avoid eye contact</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Focus on one object</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Difficulty understanding visual cues</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Flapping their arms</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rocking side to side</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Distress with deviation from routines</div><div>·&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Difficulty maintaining a conversation with peers<br><br></div><div>Symptoms may be improved with support, therapy, and behavioral treatments which may lead them to independence with support in adulthood.<br><br></div>]]></description>
