2.Environmental Law: the branch of law dealing with conservation and use of natural resources and control of pollution. 

3.Contaminants (water): Any physical, chemical, biological or radiological substance or matter in water. Drinking water is expected to contain at least small amounts of some contaminants. 

4.Point source pollution: distinct and confined, such as pipes from industrial or municipal sites that empty into streams or rivers. 

5.Non-point source pollution: diffused and intermittent pollution influenced by land use, climate, hydrology, topography, native vegetation and geology. 

6.Effluent discharge: liquid waste or sewage discharged into a river or the sea. 

7.Runoff: the draining of water (and substances carried in it) from the surface of an area of land, a building, or a structure. 

8.Eutrophication: the process by which a body of water develops a high concentration of nutrients (can be natural and human-caused). 

9.Dead Zone (Anoxic): an area of the ocean or a lake that is depleted of oxygen, frequently due to pollution.

June 29 is supposed to be a normal day, right? Not for the ICPDR! The ICPDR first celebrated “Danube Day” on June 29, 2004. I chose this project because it seemed interesting and I wanted to learn more. Danube Day is important because it lets people learn how to save the river while incorporating fun games that are water-related into it.

Danube Day encourages people from Kindergarten to High School to help the Danube River. Children (and possibly teens and adults!) go on field trips to learn more. Well-known people might inspire the community to also celebrate this international day and help the river in every-day lives!

Danube day doesn't get rid of or use up resources (at least not that I know of), and is just meant to be fun and help the Danube River! If we had limited resources, we could just talk about it in class and play games using what is around us to learn about the Danube River and water.

I hope you had fun learning about this, and I hope Danube Day continues!
