3 Important Words:

Finally- Yoon uses this word creatively, as in “finallyfinallyfinally” to emphasize the excitement that Frank feels about his new relationship, about meeting Brit at lunch, and about finally having a girlfriend.

Problem- The author also uses repetition at the end of the chapter with this word to emphasize the looming conflict between Frank and his parents over his relationship with Brit.

Planes- The title of Chapter 5 is “Plane Crash”, but it is a play on words that Frank uses when he describes the different planes of his reality that are crashing together: his personal life and relationship with Brit, crashing into Joy’s personal life and relationship with Wu, crashing into the world inhabited by his parents and The Gatherings.

Romeo & Juliet- 
It’s not quite the same, because the two families don’t hate each other, but it is your typical “star-crossed lovers” teenage romance. Two people from different worlds fall for each other and have to keep their love a secret. It’s just a modern version with a twist.

Korean Food- 
I love Korean food. In the scene where Frank’s mom is making Korean BBQ, I can just imagine the smell and the taste and all of the delicious little side dishes. My mouth is watering.

Brit Means-
I think Brit Means is the character I most relate to in this novel. We see her through Frank’s eyes as this super smart, beautiful, different kind of girl. But I know how difficult it can be to be “different” when you are in high school, to feel like you don’t fit in with the majority of your peers, to come from parents who are adoring and supportive and liberal-minded, to be nerdy and a little insecure. I can relate to all of that from my own adolescent experience. And I can also relate to the feeling of being the awkward white girl trying to navigate Asian culture. 

“I take out my Tascam. I hit Record. I brace the device in the crook of a tree limb. Memory is cheap and plentiful, and the Tascam will record for hours and hours even with all the other sounds that are still on it: Lake Girlfriend, ocean waves, diners at Scudders, that samulnori quartet, and so on. Maybe someone will find these sounds, and also find delight in them.” 

Some of the themes in this book include coming of age, independence, love, racism, and they are all somewhat represented in this quote. It’s about the ability to make your own choices, choose who you want to be and who you want to love, without pressure or constraints.

1. Death- Is not only the subject that Bonnie likes to read about but it's also indicate about the future deaths.

2. Clairmont: Ever since the Liars meet at the Clairmont - the bog house on the Beachwood Island, the problem become to show up slowly.
3. Beach: Beside the Clairmont house, the beach creates the summer vibes and a playful place for the Liars. This is also the place where Cadence's love for Gate grows bigger. 

3. Can Loki become king or a traitor toward Asgard?
3 words:
Magic: Magic is a supreme power that has constructed instill fear and immersed in people’s minds through history. This power can easily overwhelm other people and seize Asgard especially Loki is always suspected of inevitable villainy while holding extremely powerful magic.
Hate:
Loki is the second prince of Asgard so he always tried hard to prove himself to his father. Moreover, he always wants to be loved by his parents and make them proud. Unfortunately, everything he did is futile because Thor always is a loveable and proud kid toward their parents. 
Ambition:
All Loki wishes for is to get a chance to prove to his father that he is worthy to be king. However, his brother was the more prominent and future heir of Asgard. Desperate to prove himself, Loki accepts an assignment from his father to investigate rumors of Asgardian magic on Earth. Therefore, he started to immerse himself in danger to fulfill his aspiration.

Perfect: This word is used in the title of chapter 9, “total perfect mind control", the word here can show us that everything is going fine, great, just like what Frank and Joy expected and it’s perfect when Frank can control their parents’ minds and let them think that Frank and Joy are actually falling in love with each other

Racist: Frank's parents are strict and want Frank to date a Korean girl, not a white or black girl. Frank has a best friend named Q, Q is an African-American person, a person of color. However, Frank's parents are very nice to him. They don't act racist towards Q, but they still take the comments about people of color as a joke but these make Frank feel uncomfortable

Love: This is one of the main themes in this book. Frank finds himself enjoying dating Brit Means. Through this word, I can see how excited he is when being in a relationship with Brit Means

2. Wealth brings conflicts. In the story, the aunts try to use their son or daughter to gain power in the house, especially the oldest - Cadence. I have watch many movies and shows about wealthy family and the heirs. And that make me understand Cadence’s situation more. She doesn’t want wealthy, she wants a happy life. 

3. Lies. Cadence usually use images and hyperbole to describes how she feels. Such as how romantic is her love with Gat by using the beach, or when her dad leaves, she describes his action just like stab a  knife into her heart. I know the hyperbole is the reality but sometimes, the pain makes me overthinking and damages my emotion. This leads me think bad toward the other without my mind.

The character that I reliable to is Cadence. Especially with her family and her emotion. Firstly, her mother always wants her to be perfect, wants her to act like a lady. And as the result, Cadence goes off the line even though she knows that it will be terrible if her mother knows. Secondly, as the oldest child in the house, she has to be an example for the younger to follow. Therefore, with two reasons above, I find myself very reliable to Cadence.

Both of this story tells about how children are forced to be in a harsh situation and the resolution that they made to solve their problem. If Never Fall Down is a story about how a young boy in a town is suddenly put into a work camp where everything is different from their daily point of view, then The Bridge Home describes a young girl who moves from a small village to a city that is strange at first sight. 

Partea (tearoom):

While reading the part when Viji and her sister, Rukku, take a rest at a tea shop, this reminds me of a tearoom in Ho Chi Minh City that settled in district one called Partea. This is a place where me and my friend usually hang out and gather together to have a fun conversation on the weekend. 

City life:

In the story when Viji and Rukku stay in the teashop to work to pay back the money that they owe, Viji is surprised about how the tea shop owner tells her to save water while washing the dish. Viji thinks that in the city, people could get water from the tap whenever they wanted but in reality in every city, areas that are far apart from the city center still don't get enough water to make a living. 

Viji -

In my opinion, Viji may be a character that I feel has the most identity with me in this book. It seems like Viji never wants to endure the suffering that other people create for her and those she loves. Like me, I can get really upset when anyone has negative intentions for me or people around me. As a person, we can't tolerate people who have a bad influence on society so if I was Viji, I would also choose to leave that house and move to a better place where I can feel more relieved for changing my life. 

External conflict is that Frank's parents are racist, they are strict, and they just want him to date a Korean girl. His sister wanted to marry a black guy and Frank's parents have already disowned. So this is an external conflict because Frank and his sister want to date someone they love but their parents only want them to date Koreans.

In the story, Loki is the second prince of Asgard but when he has possessed the great magic power, his parents won’t give him any love instead of disgracing him. Therefore, this leads to the fighting between Thor and Loki to steal the throne. Moreover, this also caused huge destruction for Asgard in the future.  In real life, if children didn’t have enough love from their own parents, it causes inevitable discord to the relationship between relatives, even fighting with each other. 
A person will grow mature through dangerous :
In the story, Loki has punished by his father which investigated rumors of Asgardian magic on Earth. However, he survived and grow mature through the dangerous events to prove himself and figure out who he really is.  
 Prove yourself by doing any things:
Loki has accepted a dangerous mission to prove his strength that he deserved to inherited the heir from Odin. Although, there were various dangers that have driven him into dead have certainly contributed to the credibility of his father. 

Relatable Character: The character I think I relate to the most is Q. Q is Frank's best friend and he always supports his friend, he knows almost everything about Frank, he sympathizes with Frank and Joy's fake-dating scheme and he also gave his friend some good advice. Q has good manners and he is friendly, that’s the reason why Frank's parents (who are racist) like him even when Q is black. So I consider myself similar to Q because I usually give some advice to my friends and understand their situations.

3 questions:
- Hug: one of the most dangerous things in CF patients is hugging, or just standing too close. it is extremely difficult when they have to keep five feet apart while talking and having fun, but Stella and Will many times almost hug each other, or their friend (who has cystic fibrosis).
- Smile: although Will, Stella, and Poe are all in the hospital for treatment, however, Poe and Stella managed to organize for Will a birthday party. Their friend relationship is what helps them to stay positive and continue to move on. They do appreciate every time they meet each other, trying to keep as happiest as they can.
- Losing: the moment Stella sees her best friend dies in front of her made she felt like everyone is leaving her. From Abby’s dead, and now is Poe, she never had a chance to hug him even though they are best friends of each other. Her exasperation rose up making her wanted to destroy everything in her room, even Poe’s truffles. 

2. High School Flirtations:  Norris did not think he belonged to Austin, let alone meet his first crush. It is quite normal to have your first crush or your first love in high school since it is so innocent and pure. 

3.The unexpected friend: Norris thought he would like to become a part of the “loners”. Yet, Liam, a member of the “loners” came up to Norris and talked to him. He did not have high expectations for the conversation. Yet, they ended up going ice skating together. Norris felt that he was “able to forget everything for a while”(109). I sometimes have a preconception about my friends when I first met them. Yet, as we gradually get to know each other, I think that we are compatible.

The character that best reflects my personality is Norris. I can see myself in this character because many things that happen to this character were relatable to me. He sometimes wishes that he was never moved to Austin, Texas. Nevertheless, Austin always presented him with many things that he had ever experienced and explored new things.

1) Endure - Norris thinks school is a hassle, especially if it’s located somewhere that possibly starred in 90s movies where there are endless predictable stereotypes. This is a big part of his personality, as hekeeps juding people and applying stereotypes onto them. Jocks, nerds, cheerleaders, bullies, etc. with boring personalities, like those displayed in teenage movies. He has to endure “729 days” of school, since he doesn’t think it would be enjoyable.  

2) Sorry - Norris realizes Madison, one of the cheerleaders, wasn’t as mean as he thought. She’s the second character who seemed to break Norris from his stereotypical thoughts on people at school. He apologized to her since she helped him get a job even though they weren’t fond of each other. 

3) Yes - Norris agrees to being friends with Liam Hooper, a fellow classmate who he thought was strange and a nuisance. Liam is his first ever friend at the school, someone who voluntarily approached him. His character now becomes an important factor of Norris’s school life.   

2) Individual personality: Madison is part of the cheerleading team, who all made fun of Norris. Norris insulted them, but she’s the only one who didn’t pay him as much mind and often ignored him instead of arguing back. She’s diffused the fight by distracting her friends, making up an excuse to leave. Madison turns out to be nicer than I thought, as she helped Norris get a job. Just because she is around people who are mean to Norris, doesn’t mean she is as rude. Just like in real life, some people get judged if the crowd they choose to surround themselves by has a bad reputation.

3) High school reputation: Judith made and put up ads of Norris, saying that if anyone needed a friend, they should reach out to him, to which Liam did. After seeing the ad, Norris felt embarrased and immediately ran home to confront his mom about how this would ruin his reputation at school, how people would think it’s pathetic that he needs to advertise himselves to make friends. A lot of students in general would like to keep a low profile, the last thing they want to do is become notorious.

Relatable character: Norris has quite a few aspects I’m able to relate to, from being easily irritated, judging people a bit too hastily, to not wanting any attention drawn to themselves. The only difference is that I don’t convey my thoughts into words, unlike Norris, who most of the time say whatever is on his mind with no moderation towards other people’s feelings.

Throughout the story, I feel like I am most related to character Will. He really loves Stella although she told him that she is not that pretty with those surgical scars, he ignored. Not only that, he knows how to make her happy all the time, even when he’s not around. He is the one who seriously ill, refuses to take medicine, but loves her more than ever and takes care of her health. in any relationships, once I loved someone, I don’t care much about their appearances, I pay more attention to their human behaviors. and I sometimes can hurt myself but never mean to hurt my beloved.

Words:
Love: Although in a situation which they do not know they live or die and in which hospitals do not have someone familiar only heard the patient's pain, fighting their own illness, a place that would be very cold but there are still signs of caring, birthday parties with everyone's congratulations, warm attention, and important love. No one would have thought that a place like this would appear loved. The love between friends who constantly support each other, the love between Will and Stella who is pure and a little wild when they know being with each other is impossible and in that hospital even between patients and doctors. There is also a loving bond. 

Fear/Despair/Frustration: Fear of loss, watching their friends die, and despair knowing that one's end will be the same as theirs. Stella and Will’s life are like a speck of dust that can be blown away at any moment. When their happiness was only for a moment, they were robbed by death, resentful because their fate had infected them with a terrible disease, tormented with pain, and had to fight for their lives every day. , it can be said that it has been very painful, but even being able to have a little joy, a ray of happiness cannot be. Is it too unfair for them? 

5 feet: The distance between Stella and Will and each other's illness can kill each other if they stand too close. This 5 feet distance is not too close nor too far, they just stand in front of each other, just one hand can touch each other, but they can't, even hold hands, hug the other It's also a luxury for the two of them. The distance of 5 feet really makes readers obsessed as if standing right in front of their eyes but can only helplessly do anything.

- Hopelessness: hopelessness, the reason which led Bae to escape her home. To run away from those bottled emotions, and the pain.

- Emptiness: Lou couldn’t forget Her demised mother, the only person who could make her feel whole. After her death, Lou’s only way to cope was to work and work, but it wasn’t enough to help her forget.

-  sympathy: When Lou finally found out why Bea ran away, she couldn't say anything but embrace her. 

Even though the book has an overall humorous tone, it does mention several deep issues about high school life, or just life in general. One of the major theme of the story is about how Norris is a judgemental loud mouth who doesn’t hold back in the slightest. He often rambles about whatever is on his mind with no regard towards others’ feelings. As a blabbermouth who manages to way the worst things at the worst time, and an overthinker who often insults others, Norris is bound to hurt someone’s feelings. Throughout the story, he’s shown to have made a lot of people upset with his words, a few of them being his close friends. He accidentally made someone he liked incredibly sad, but instead of apologizing, his chose to forget the problem by moving back to Canada with his dad. While talking about the reason why Norris wanted to move, his father gives Norris an advice, that he should fix the mess instead of ignoring it. Everyone messes up once in a while, we’re all human, but what matters is how you deal with the mess. Do you decide to clean it up or run away? 

This book covers many themes, including love, racism, teenager's independent life. The story in this book is about your own life, choices, and decisions. Nothing can stop you from living your own life, loving the person who you want to love, or even being the person who you want to be. Living your own life with your choices is more important than all other constraints because it is your choice, it is the decision that helps you live a happy life as you desire.

Connections:

1.  Chelsea's post is about a system called the Princess Industrial Complex, it is a system that sets up to teach woman how to act, how to think and what to wear. Indeed, women have been missing out in many areas because according to some stereotypes, we are not strong or smart enough. This reminds me of young girls between age 20-23, in some families, their parents forced them to engage with a successful man and start to build a happy family. Instead of letting them making their own decisions, parents were more involved in the choice-making and committed their daughters to an arranged path.
2. The world nowadays have a fixed imagination about regular feminine, subsequently, at little ages, many girls are obsessed with the thought of having the girl's characteristic. For instance, most people are believed, girls are supposed to be soft spoken, be emotional, be loving (unconditionally), similarly, be beautiful and sexy, which also means that be skinny, tall or white; Something similar happened to my cousin, she was overweight and a lot of time, I've seen her receiving comments about why didn't she lost weight to look prettier. Eventually, those kind of negative comments lower her self-esteem and make her worried and shy in a large group of people.
3. Even in job sectors, stereotypes about women are still being spread among most working stations that we weren't suited for specific kind of jobs such as computer and technology, sport, etc,.. This part reminds me of the times when I read an article online about job selections to research which kinds of jobs would fit me in the future, and the article had a line that emphasize women are likely to have talents in art sections which including actresses, poets, cook; While men are better at jobs that need to work on their brains more like construction workers, athletes, electrical engineers.

Most-related character:

Jasmine is the character that shared some common characteristics with me. She is very considerate of other's feelings, and always careful in what's she saying out loud. Furthermore, when she knew about her dad is going to die due to his cancer and everyday have to see him dealing with it breaks her heart which implicitly expressed how soft her heart is. If I'm in her case, I would also be like her, feeling very worried and unable to put negative thoughts of mind when seeing him everyday.

Mississippi - The word shows the horror of the story when Kim start to count in Mississippi

2/ When Kim Accepts Nicki’s request when she really doesn’t think she honestly going to do it. A misundestanding is somthing normal

3/ When Kim was in London, it reminds me of the German bombing over London during WW2, and that people have to hide in the train station.

I think I most identify with Nicki, because I think me and her almost have the same personality, like how we can do whatever it takes to “Finish” something.

The theme is about Loki, the god of mischief. He was sent down to Midgard by Odin to solve murders then he met Amora and Amora manipulate him to attack Asgard. However, during the attack, Loki realized that his action was wrong and turn to attack Amora.

Since the title suggests a debt unpaid, i would presume that the story would be about the main character trying to avoid fulfilling their part in a murder exchange whilst the other person who already murdered someone tries to convince them into it

- “Change”, After the airport adventures with Nicki, Kim decides to change herself; starting with her perspective on the field trip. As she views the field trip more positively as a learning experience and starts trying to socialize, she begins genuinely having fun. This shows that sometimes what holds people back is themselves, as what was holding Kim back was her low self esteem, and that sometimes the solution is as simple as having the resolve to change. “Change” is an important word as it reflects the main character’s internal struggle in the beginning of the story.

“I’d spent too much of my life trying to be what other people wanted, trying to make them happy. Being here, being stripped of everything, made me realize that what mattered most was my own opinion of myself.”

- “Opinion”, Kim has social anxiety; conscious of her reputation and others’ opinions of her, affecting her actions and stifling her personality. One of the main conflicts of the book involves Kim learning to value her own self-esteem over the opinions of others. “Opinion” is an important word as it reflects the main theme and conflict of the book.

“Nicki said that she’d picked me because she thought I was smart and analytical. That I could divorce myself from emotion and do what needed to be done. Clinical”

- “Clinical”, Kim and Nicki are both very similar; smart and analytical. This helps Nicki to manipulate Kim, as she can accurately guess Kim’s actions due to their similarities. When Kim tries to imitate Nicki’s clinical cunning to outwit her, it doesn't work. Only when Kim stops planning while emotionally detaching herself does she realize the way to escape Nicki’s blackmail and win their game of cat and mouse. “Clinical” is an important word as it reflects the difference between antagonist and protagonist, and what the protagonist is fighting against becoming.

-Remember that time in 8th grade when they said we were going canyoning and it sounded like fun because i didn't realize we’d literally be scaling a cliff until the day of? Did i also mention that i fear heights? Man, that was a fun field trip; it's not often that i literally can not feel my legs

“My brother is an escapee from one of the levels of hell”

-Sibling relationships be like; i feel like anyone who isn't an only child can relate to questioning their siblings’ possible demonic origins; though as the younger sibling, i am the demon in this scenario

As Kim is blackmailed by Nicki, she tries to become what Nicki wanted her to turn into as an attempt to outsmart and stay one step ahead of Nicki. Kim develops tunnel vision, trying to counter Nicki’s calculated schemes with plans of the same nature. After predictably losing to Nicki who is more experienced in clinical, emotionally detached planning, Kim stops imitating Nicki’s mindset out of despair. The resulting loss of tunnel vision allows Kim to realize the opening in Nicki’s plan. Kim was being strung along because of the blackmail that Nicki has, because she was too worried about what her reputation would become if she didn't do what Nicki wanted. By resolving herself to tank the consequences of Nicki’s blackmail, Kim is no longer controlled by Nicki. By valuing her own opinion of herself more highly than the opinion of others, and abandoning the fear that a negative reputation would push others away from her, Kim is finally able to end the murder exchange

This quote is one of the best quote I find while reading. This saying that the dangerous of this country which make their family have to put their children in a dangerous environment but safer than on land. Because of the war, people have to go into dangerous zone but safer than staying at their home.
