Why have you chosen this video?

I chose this video because it connects language learning with something much bigger: real people doing meaningful work to help others. It introduces vocabulary around jobs and occupations that contribute to the greater good, particularly in the context of NGOs and fundraising topics that not only broaden students’ vocabulary but also spark reflection and emotional engagement. What I really appreciate about this resource is how naturally it integrates key grammatical structures we’re already working on, like the present simple, there is/are, pronouns, adverbs of frequency, and linkers to help tell a story. These elements come together to give students the tools they need to express themselves clearly and confidently when talking or writing about real-world issues.

What challenges do you anticipate when implementing this activity?

As with any CBL lesson plan, several challenges may arise throughout the process. One anticipated difficulty is the variation in students’ digital literacy levels. While most are comfortable navigating basic tools, some may require additional guidance when using platforms like Canva or Padlet. To address this, I plan to promote a peer-support system, encouraging more digitally confident students to assist their classmates, thus reinforcing collaboration and empathy while ensuring no one is left behind.

How does this approach change your teaching practice and impact your students’ learning experience?

Honestly, working with CBL has completely reshaped the way I plan and teach. Instead of focusing only on grammar or isolated language skills, I now design tasks where sts. use English to explore real issues and make an impact. That shift makes everything more meaningful for them and for me.

Sts. feel more motivated because they see a clear purpose behind what they’re doing. They’re not just learning English to pass a test; they’re using it to support local causes, express ideas, and collaborate with their peers. In the end, it’s not just about better language learning 📚. It’s about helping them grow as thoughtful, active young people who see English as a tool to understand the world and contribute to it 💡🤗. And that’s when real learning happens!
