-A cool fact is that the sun is way bigger than the earth. So if you put earth into the sun each second it will take nearly 12 days to full up!  
-The nearest star to us after the sun is one of the two Pointers which are near the Southern Cross. The star is called the Alpha Centauri, and it is more than 250,000 times further away from us than the sun.
-If the sun was that far away it would look like an ordinary star, but the earth wouldn't have enough warmth so there would be no life on our planet.
-The sun is actually quite small. Well its huge compared to the earth but there are heaps of stars bigger than the sun. Some are more than 1000 x bigger! If those stars were where the sun is its surface will reach all the way to earth. -The moon is actually quite small. The moon's diameter is 3,476 kilometers. That's over twice the length of New Zealand. But the moon is four times smaller than the Earth and four million times smaller than the sun.
-The moon is moving away from Earth about 4 centimeters a year. As it leaves us the moon will appear smaller, and in a few billion years the moon will just look like just a normal star in the sky.
-Scientists think that 4 billion years ago another planet hit Earth. There was a huge explosion and the other planet was destroyed. And bits of Earth was blown into space. It takes the moon almost 28 days to go around Earth.
