Numerous studies and research shows that increasing exposure to learning early in a child's life can be achieved through toys that encourage the development of cognitive skills. There are tens of thousands of designs of toys in the world. Toys that are merchandise of movies and books, toys that are made for educational purposes. And some of these toys are not the best choices for children.

An example of a good toy is Legos. Legos are building block toys that can be built into anything. It promotes both creativity and motor skills. Children can even practice their skills in cooperation, since Legos can be played with both family and friends. It also teaches children an early level of engineering. If they want to build a bridge, they have to figure out how to balance it and make it stand up properly. Even though Legos have small parts which can be swallowed, children over the age of 3 or under adult supervision should be fine.

I'm thinking of making a toy which promotes motor skills. A toy that is similar to the image underneath. However, the shapes will have images of animals on them, and labeled with the animal's name. This will teach children about common animals around them and also help with their hand-eye coordination skills.

Kids are the business men of the future. But currently, all they want to do is play around and sleep. Kids like to play with toys, but some toys are not safe of 4 year olds to play with or they don't enjoy the toy. Kids in this generation likes to watch tv and play video games. But mostly these video games aren't educational. These games don't teach about their everyday life. They only teach about the creator's world. Our design problem is to create a educational toy which is safe for 4 year olds. Most importantly, we want the kids to have fun and enjoy the toy. Kids want a toy that can express their imagination.

Our design opportunity is to design an educational toy, the age range is 4 years old. We want to make a toy that teaches children and is enjoyable for them.
The toy should help childhood development and build up their way of thinking and how they grow up. Our goal is to make a toy suitable for their age that is educational. It is also important for the toy to be safe and sustainable to make.
4 year olds still do not understand toys like puzzles or toys with a specific task like games so a toy where they can just get their hands on or play around with no specific goal is helpful and suiting for them.

Working parents are usually so busy that they cannot spend enough time to spend with their children. Children are often left to spend their own time watching TV, or playing video games, which have little or no educational value. Research has found that these children develop learning skills much more slowly than those who play with educational toys. Children who regularly play with educational toys develop for example reading skills, hand-eye coordination skills quicker, leading to greater progress at school. Companies that design and make toys often forget that learning through play is very important, and they often prioritize sales over educational value.

By making an educational toy, it can help improve children's skills, whilst they are happy and enjoying doing something with the toy. This is a big design opportunity because parents love toys that keep their children busy, are not to complicated so the child can figure things out on their own, and are somewhat educational. This is a big opportunity for designers if they can make a toy that combines all these elements.

Toys can help by giving 4 year olds the simple skills they need to keep going in life. For example, getting 4 year olds to practice hand eye coordination helps them get better at it ending with a fun time and a kid more ready for the next years. The requirements for the toy is that it must be educational yet fun, it must be safe for the kid to play with, it must be not too hard for the kid. In conclusion, I think that I would like to make a hand eye coordination game or a puzzle game because they are both fun and educational.

3 Paragraphs:
It is critical that children can be able to form their identity, form their basic educational and basic social skills at a young age, so when they grow older, they already have had a head start to becoming mature youth.
in adolescence, so many creative ideas and thoughts form throughout the child's mind, and having the opportunity to express the creative imaginations, can really help nail down their creative flow and process.

an incredible example of a great toy for children is Lego,Lego a block building game with many different pieces that all have a role in the making of a creation, you can build up a boat, a car or even a plane, Lego can help build the child's creative process, hand coordination and motor skills and nail down the creative expression.
cooperation is also done in Lego, help building bonds between different children, parents and siblings help form basic social skills and as well learns empathy.

but Lego can be very dangerous to very young kids and without adult supervision, the kids could possibly pick up a piece and try and eat it, choking on it, and that the Lego pieces are not edible in anyway, making it a very large hazard for very young children, the only way to solve this issue is to make sure very young kids are not playing with very small toy pieces without anyone, or any parent around to supervise.

The toys that can have bad effect towards children are video games, some video games can be useful but some can cause the children to get too addicted to the came that can affect their learning and social lives.

I think that LEGO is a very good toy and gives them a chance to use their imagination. LEGOs also have a lot of ways to interact with it and is perfect for kids in general. When I was younger and up until now, I loved building legos and creating my own society with my friends. Before, I would do more imaginative and freestyle builds but currently I do architecture series builds and it is still very enjoyable.
I feel like legos have a huge age range and is enjoyable for everyone with different purposes for each person. There are many ways to enjoy it and 4 year old kids could build these blocks freely since they would not understand instructions very well yet.

Being four years old this is a important part of there future. At this age it is the prime time to play with not only toys but to learn from them. Parents should start choosing the correct toy for there children to learn from. For example if a child likes to play with legos he may have a passion for architecture. At this age the toys they choose to play with can inspire them with what they want to do in the future. At this age kids don't have many responsibilities and work meaning they will spend a lot of there own time playing with toys. Having an educational toy along with a entertaining toy that the kid will learn from and have fun with is my goal.

I think that Duplo is a very good toy because it can really help the child exercise there imagination and make what ever they want. also Duplo is very good for hand eye coordination too because the child can use your hand eye coordination to stick the blocks together. Duplo is better than LEGO bricks because they are safe. LEGO bricks are considerably small and can be a big choking hazard but Duplo pieces are slightly bigger and that is good.

Every kid needs to learn about the basics of the real world before they actually grow up and handle different situations. Toys are one of the great ways for kids to learn about the world. According to Professor Trawick-Smith, 90% of the United States learn faster with a better benefit by playing toys. However, the problem is that some toys might not be as useful and it can bring harm and wrong informations for kids such as video games. Some video games are useful however, kids get addicted after playing them for a long time. This can affect their social lives and learning as well as narrowing down their interests making it hard for them to concentrate. This is the reason why educational toys are the solution because from them, kids can learn new things and also have fun.

A good educational toy is a toy that expresses the 4 year olds imagination. According to the Piaget's Theory of Development, kids ages 0-4 are still in their imaginative state. There are still exploring the world that they are exposed to. What a good toy is that it must be safe for kids to play with. Also it should What I think is a good educational toy is Duplo. I think that Duplo is good because I expresses kid's imagination. Also Duplo is also safer because lego is for kids aged 5-8. Lego men's heads are easy to be eaten. But Duplo blocks and their characters are big and hard for the kids to eat but at the same time, kids can enjoy making buildings. Also, when we went to grade 1 for research. We see that the teachers not only have toys for the kids to play with, but they have things from the natural world like sticks and also living things like fishes and tadpoles.

Which these days there are more working parents and often they are busy and will leave their kids alone will electronic devices such as Tv, video games, ipad etc which has little to no education at all. Since it is the age where it basically starts shaping who they are. While electronics might slow them down of what they should already know. At this age the parents should pick more educational toys for their kids, these toys should help with hand eye coordination also but also help with their imagination, and interactions.

There are toys like play doh and slime that children these days are really interested in, because of the consistency and just being able to fiddle with it.

Kids want to have fun in their lives. Designers and engineers have tried to make their toys as good as possible. We are also trying to achieve that in our unit of learning. We have looked at different examples of successful educational toys for kids. We have studied about Piaget's theory and how it affects kids. What I want to create as a final product for this unit is a educational toy which can express the kid's creativity and also express their imagination. What I would like to make is a educational building toy like a combination of big Duplo or a big version of lincoln logs or even a younger version of K'Nex. But at the same time, the original K'Nex and lincoln logs are choking hazard for little kids. So I would want to make my toys safer by making it bigger.

Wooden blocks are great for young children to practice simple skills. This is the best toy for open-ended play. Children are free to use their imaginations and creativity. Wooden blocks can also be used in a number of ways to practice shapes, colors and counting. Another cool toy that is interesting to kids is kinetic sand. The texture of Kinetic Sand is so soft that it is almost silky. Both children enjoy manipulating it and molding it into shapes. Fidgeting with the sand can help to reduce stress and be very calming. in design class we looked at a children's show called "In the night garden." this show is very current and it show us what attracts kids these days. we saw that the show was very slow and it was calming. We also researched about a man called Piaget who came up with a theory that cognitive development is a comprehensive theory about the nature and development of human intelligence. The theory deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans gradually come to acquire, construct, and use it.

in conclusion to make an entertaining educational toy is to make something that will help the kids develop a certain skill without them knowing that they are actually learning or thinking. Making the toy more aesthetically pleasing to kids will also help them be more tempted to play with the toy. Therefore helping them develop the skill even further.I think that i want to make something that kids will be interested in touching because if kids see something interesting they usually want to touch it so if i can make a toy that is not a solid but also easy to clean.

Toys for young kids is a great solution to help get kids educated at develop skills at a young age. The toys that the kids play with can lead toward a path or what they want to be when the grow up because of the things they payed with. Not only should the toys the kids play entertain them but also should help them learn and become more creative.

If the train track is undoable then they can create different paths for the train can go on. Another toy I think will help children is a wooden clock. I had this as a kid and it helped me learn at a young at a young age with me not even realising it.

A good way to me is to make something that produces sound, like a musical instrument. Shows that are made for little children almost never have quiet moments and always have sound. Maybe kids will enjoy just playing around with an instrument, you don’t need to know what you’re doing to play around with it. For example, I want to design a ukulele. There’s chords where you don’t even need to use any fingers on the fretboard which will be very easy for the kids. There are some kids who were given instruments at a very young age and grew up to be amazing talented musicians, maybe I could spark a fire! I plan to design a Ukulele of some kind.

In my opinion, I think a good educational toy should start with something simple but fun and make kids think out of the box. A good toy can be something related to word games because communication is one of the most important things for kids. They need to communicate in order to gain more knowledge and by successful in the end. Word games can help them learn many different words bit by bit and have much more information than normal kids do. Word games can help kids deal with difficult tasks and understand what the world is trying to say such as formal news report, difficult words in books and magazines and many other things.

The problem mentioned in the first paragraph does have a solution there are some toys that are entertaining for kids and very educational, while kids can have fun yet there are other toys that helps kids with their imagination and some help kids interactions with other kids. I think that the definition of the best toys depends on each child yet it also matters of gender although not always it still plays a big part for example for girls they might would rather play with cashier toys and dolls while boys might want to play with trucks. In this case for both genders it will probably be legos because they come in both versions for girls and boys and help with many things from Imaginations, hand eye coordination, motor skills etc. yet this toy they can play with other kids which will improve their socializing skills since some kids tend to have problems sharing and by starting at a young age it will slowly improve. In additional to all the benefits the lego company produces figures in different themes such as fairy tales, pirates, etc

Your 4-year-old cruises through the developmental milestones as she starts preschool and nears the first day of kindergarten. Before you panic about missed milestones, remember that kids all develop in unique ways, and a wide range of skills are perfectly normal at age 4. Learning about the typical 4-year-old academic skills helps you determine if your little one is progressing as expected. so we have to find a toy for the G1 kids to help them to learn things but also are fun for them, so they want to learn more.

My Idea is to make a puzzle for the kids to solve because it can improve their thinking skills and problem solving skills. I will also make it safe for the kids by making the puzzles into big pieces (Not too big) and try not making the corner's sharp since they might hurt themselves.

Researchers and studies found out that toys not only to entertain children, it also educated them by simply playing with toys. The toys have different kind of shaped and sizes which makes the children have simple critical thinking skills. By playing with it, they will develop motor skills which helps them to know how to move and make actions with their body. But mostly, the children wanted to have fun with the toys they are playing.

There are a lot of toys that helps children to develop simple critical thinking skills and doing some motor skills. Examples of an educational yet a fun toy are legos, puzzles, etc. But I think a good toy is a number puzzle or some kind of simple puzzle is also fine (below). It helps children to develop basic skills such as shape recognition, concentration, goal setting, patience and a sense of achievement, which will stand children in good stead for school.

I think I'll be making something like this. As you can see, the toy looks hard to solve, so I want to make something simpler and yet fun and challenging for children to play/solve. The shapes won't be like those animals in the picture, I'm thinking more like shapes. Children will have to differentiate different shapes so that they will know which is which by the look of it. I hope it will also help them with their thinking skills:)

User:
Children at the age of 4-10 (or more since the toy might be challenging for 10+ year old)
Functions:

This toy can develop their creativity and thinking skills. They will understand which shapes is which and understand which basic shapes add up into a shape.

Aesthetic:

It will be made out of plastic, and then shaped like shapes of square, triangles, or rectangles. The size will probably be medium with some primary colors that can attract children’s eyes. The shapes should be smooth and soft that satisfies the children liking.
Manufactures:
The toy will probably cost not that expensive? An enough amount for children's parent to buy. It will probably be packaged in a small carton box with some images of shapes as the decoration of the box.
Environment:

Children can play this anywhere they’re comfortable with, some examples are at home, classroom, or in the playground. It might be dangerous if children tried to eat it, so it will be better if there has to be an adult to keep them safe.

What I have learnt about my research is that all the materials that I would use has to be safe to kids. It has to be non-toxic. It also has to be safe for the environment once it is thrown away. I would also need to make my product to not be easily eaten by kids. I could do this by making the toy big so I could not be eaten. My toy would include something that expresses the kid's imagination and creativity. My toy would be like a building toy so I could express the kid's imagination. Duplo was popular because it was a building toy which is like lego but it is safe for little kids. What Duplo also has is dolls which when the kids build something like a houses, they could use the dolls to play pretend. And there is different shaped blocks which the kids could make anything they like. I would also want to create a product like Lincoln Logs and K'nex. Both are great toys for children for expressing their creativity but they are also both choking hazard for kids too. The Aesthetics would have to be for the target demographic which is around grade 1. I would need to make the toy look

I had learnt many things researching about the children age 2-4. some of the things that i had learnt is how the children's brain work. they are really fascinating how there learning is better through discovering by themselves then get information given to them. playing for them is the best way to learn for them because they still have to discover meany things about themself (like for example smell sound and tactile). I also learnt a lot more about the genius designs of children toys. for example if we compare Duplo with Lego. Lego in the other hand has more variety of pieces so you can extend your imagination. from this idea we can make a conclusion and combine all the pro's into my own design. the user of my toy would be the children aged 2-4. they will gain lots of knowledge about learning how things go together. Also they will learn a lot about how there own body works and also exercising there creativity muscles

A toy for children about 5-6 year olds should have primary colours (yellow, blue, red) and the colours of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet), which according to research, are the most eye catching colours for children. The colours of the rainbow that catches kids’ eyes the most rank from red to violet, in order.

According to scholastic, children this age should learn how to map signs and symbols, and form references. References are when you combine previous knowledge and information available from a text or a situation to draw conclusions. Such as: a child is shown a picture of of a dragonfly. She recognizes that it is a dragonfly, even though she didn’t learn about them, because she once read a book about a child who goes to the park and sees dragonflies.

The toy is designed for a classroom environment of children in grade 1 (5-6 year olds). It would be designed to be able to be played both on a table and on the floor. Because I want the toy to be durable and waterproof, I will make the toy out of acrylic plastic. Though not recommended, the toy will be able to be played on the beach and besides the pool.

The user of my toy will be 5-6 years old children. The aim of my toy is to enhance the current skills that the kids are learning at that time, which will include identifying and understanding signs and symbols, along with forming inferences.

Like mentioned in the section about environment, the material that I will use to make my toy will be acrylic plastic, which will be laser cutted. However, acrylic plastic is not easily recycled. In most communities, and is not readily biodegradable. On the other hand, it is waterproof and durable.
