A German General named Erwin Rommel, was dispatched to North Africa along with the Afrika Korps in February 1942. The reason why they got dispatched was to help an Italian Axis partner, so they wouldn't lose their territorial gains in the British region. Since Rommel couldn't do much but manage his forces, this battle would bring out and display the " Desert Fox's" strategical genius. The Afrika Korps, they had launched an offensive attack on the defensive Allied line in Tunisia. The Battle of the Kasserine Pass then set the stage for the battle of El Alamein. In which the U.S finally was defeated.
Did you know, that Ewrin Rommel fought in World War I and was an infantry officer.
https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/battle-of-the-kasserine-pass

Did you know, The Battle of Kursk had about 6,000 tanks along with 2,000,000 troops with 4,000 aircrafts, truly giving it the name the largest tank battle in history.
It was an unsuccessful assault on the salient that stretched from the north and south and went on for 100 miles west into German lines. The Germans hoped to recover the offensive side that was in the Eastern Front, they wanted to have a surprise attack from both the North and South side on the salient, they hoped to surround and destroy the soviet forces. The Soviets then fought back and were successful with gathering the nearby city of Orel, making it a broad offensive side. This cleared that way for the Soviets to have a greater offensive then the Germans in 1944-45.
https://www.britannica.com/event/Battle-of-Kursk

Did you know that the Battle of Stalingrad was fought during World War II.
Germany's armed forces invaded the Soviet Union, pushing them farther back into the Soviets territory, they suffered many defeats during that year, so the Soviets made a counter-attack on the German army during the Battle of Moscow which drove the Germany's away from Moscow. The reason why Hitler wanted to have Stalingrad all to himself was because of the Volga River which would secure a transport route between Northern part of Russia and the Caspian Sea, this would secure that Hitler could cut off the fuel supply because of the Caucasus region that was oil-rich.
The Generaloberst von Richthofen’s Luftflotte 4, dropped a bomb on the city which started the battle, Stalin didn't want his citizens leaving during the battle because he had a feeling that their leaving would cause a greater resistance. Throughout the battle many soldiers faced hardships either due to the weather or not being prepared enough, many troops on both sides died from starvation or because of the cold. The battle finally came to an end after 199 days earning itself to be called, one of the largest battles in human history, and countless number of deaths, in total about an estimated number of 1.7-2 million where the total casualties for both the Axis and Soviet side.
https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-battle-of-stalingrad#stal

The second battle consisted with the removal of II Corps, General Freyberg's New Zealand Corps moved forward, in brutal, close-in fighting, his men were turned back by the enemy. Allied leaders began planning a third attempt to penetrate the Gustav Line at Cassino. In the mountains, Allied forces secured key points known as Castle Hill and Hangman's Hill, and on March 23 Freyberg pulled his exhausted men from the offensive line.

The battle occurred on the 16 of December during 1944, Germany launched a huge attack on the allied forces that was surrounding the forest of Ardennes in Belgium and Luxembourg. During this battle, the allied forces were mainly American’s who either had experienced battle and others who were inexperienced with war. Allied forces arrived quickly and the American defence slowed the Germans, they stopped receiving the resources that they needed, the weather didn’t help either, it caused a shortage of fuel which had disrupted the supply lines. January 1945 German air force did serious damage to the Alliedair bases that were in the north-west part of Europe. After a counterattack, the allied forces succeeded in pushing the Germans back and reclaimed their position before the attack.
https://www.iwm.org.uk/history/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-battle-of-the-bulge
Did you know that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill had stated "This is undoubtedly the greatest American battle of the war, and will, I believe be regarded as an ever famous American victory (A Closer Look at Churchill’s Battle of the Bulge Quote)."

One soldier talked about the one man being beheaded for finding Japanese money in a captain's pocket.'The captain's head seemed to jump off his 'shoulders. It hit the ground in front of him and went rolling crazily from side to side between the lines of prisoners. The body fell forward. I have seen wounds, but never such a gush of. blood as this ( The Bataan Death March, 1942).” This was one of the many treatments the imprisoned soldiers experienced, the tortures would go to include Oriental Sun Treatment and Drop-outs.

Even though the ships at sea didn’t directly fire at each other, they still had many casualties, many of the Japanese aircrafts were damaged or sunk by the USS Yorktown or CV-5. The Japanese carrier strike force moved towards the Coral Sea with the hope of finding the allied naval forces. The battle began on May 7, both sides began exchanging strikes in the air for 2 constructive days, many of the ships were severely damaged and could no longer function, Samuel Eliot Morison noted “so many mistakes were made by both sides in this new mode of fighting that it might be called the Battle of Errors; but more were made by the enemy, and he failed to profit by them (Battle of Coral Sea).”

The battle started off to a rough start, the American soldiers were welcomed to a low tide, they had to get off the boat and walk through extremely sharp coral along with unmerciful gun fire from the Japanese who were hidden in the surrounding area. The Americans started firing bombs into the air one after another, while the marines that were on the Blue Fox were overjoyed with the current outcome. After the firing from the Blue Fox the Americans thought that the Japanese soldiers would have died due to the firing, but the Japanese started firing back. “ (now I was shaking from fear). I said, in an effort to be reassuring, 'I'm scared, too.'

The first prolonged campaign in the Pacific was The Battle of Guadalcanal.
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, it started a formal war between both Japan and the US. The whole plan for the Japanese was to strategically establish military bases to help with the defensive line of the Japanese empire. The Japanese made two attempts to try to broaden their defensive line. After the great loss, both in material loss, strategically and manpower, that the Japanese suffered during the battle, they lost nearly 55,000 soldiers and most of the deaths were because of the drain of resources. The loss of resources contributed to the loss that Japan faced during the campaign.
https://courses.lumenlearning.com/suny-hccc-worldhistory2/chapter/the-guadalcanal-campaign/
Did you know that on February 7, 1943 Japan decided to abandon their idea of trying to retake the Guadalcanal and later evacuated the last of their forces.
