The way in which the lead vocalist is walking down the market whist the camera is tracking/ panning him is a very similar idea to what we want to create. He is evidently happy and content completing his day to day routine which evidently adheres to Todorov's narrative theory. This is because it creates a sense of equilibrium within the video which is exactly how we want ours begin. Throughout the music video there is also a montage of performance videos as well as the continuous narrative. The rest of the band are playing their instruments and performing the song whilst the lead vocalist narrates whats happening through acting. This is definitely something we want to achieve as the combination of both narrative and performance within a music video is a very conventional aspect of indie and alternative bands. During the end of the video the equilibrium is evidently affected by a disruption as it starts raining and thundering whilst the band is playing. This disruption within the music video inspired the idea that when the main character in our video returns to her happy place the setting displays nothing but sadness and fear. The way in which the lyrics correspond to the way the flashbacks are incorporated influenced our decision to act out the main characters memories in our music video. The lyrics seem somewhat sombre and sad unlike the imagery being presented. In the lyrics the lead vocalist sings 'I remember the day you told me you were leaving' whilst happy memories are being narrated at the same time. This links to the ideas we created regarding our own music video as the lyrics are dark and deep such as 'the night is deadly still' but during the video it will flashback to her more happy memories. This contrast within the imagery and lyrics is something we'd like to achieve as it adheres to the alternative genre. There's not only narrative aspects of the music video but performance aspects also. Throughout the entire video it flickers from narrative to the band performing and singing the lyrics of the song. From looking at a wide range of music videos this is evidently a conventional aspect of the indie and alternative genre.
