Learning to critically analyse and compare is vital to every subject.
Logic, the philosophy of mind and literature are more than interesting and help to inspire creativity within my creative writing course and would be very useful in the social sciences.
The course has worked really well, and has opened up a range of thought that I wouldn't have access to if I hadn't chosen to take Philosophy.

Keep the course!
I've really enjoyed the material and the teaching is really engaging. As a third year creative writer this module wasn't the obvious choice but its really enhanced my knowldge on literature and the fundamental philosophy behind it. I would recommend this choise of course to anyone in 3rd year who wants a more in depth view of how our literature has reached this point today.

Kath's method is engaging and successful in promoting curiosity and independent thought. The content is vastly differing and provides different approaches whilst remaining just as relevant as the last. My attendance for these classes are the highest for a reason., they're fascinating, make seemingly difficult concepts easy to understand and generally just inciteful

The way we engaged with the material- all different and ranging - was great as it allowed freedom of expression and was thought-provoking.
Passionate teaching - can't stress this enough! I find philosophy difficult, however I felt engaged and interested - even at 9am.
Open, accesible, provoking, interesting.
No powerpoints!!! :) so couldn't go to sleep!
Taught in a real way by a really engaging lecturer - life and real passion.
Help received when needed.
Philosophy starts students questioning - they need to experience it before they go about their brain dead lives.
CONS
9am :( my think tank works poorly.

Philosophy wakes us up to the world/ different ways of thinking. Should be compulsory.
Cons
The time of the morning.

The key I think is the engagement of the course, the critical and expansive discussions. Everyone has opinions and theories even if they are conflicting but that is the beauty of it in my eyes. No one person definitions of love, cruelty and tragedy are the same, they sometimes overlap and the way it is allowed to be expressed in this course is brilliant. However, having a bit more guidance regarding the structure and requirements may help set up the foundations for the course. Had a great time anyway with it, thanks Kath.
