Dickson House is the oldest museum in Kuwait. Dickson's house was built at the end of the nineteenth century in front of the sea near Seif Palace and is owned by a member of the Al Sabah family. The Dickson House was the residence of British Dean Harold Dickson and his wife. During their stay they renovated the house and turned it into the most beautiful homes of their time. When Harold Dixon died in 1959 Dickson's wife stayed in the house until 1990. The house had many rooms and a front view of the sea. The Dickson House like simple Kuwaiti houses is made of coral sea stone with mud and mud walls. The Dickson house features Spanish design that helps reduce the temperature and receive air as much is possible. Now the Dickson House is one of the most famous places in Kuwait and the most beautiful museum as it is considered one of the most prominent and famous museums in Kuwait.

Ali Alqahtani
ID:53719

Qurain House or Qurain’s Martyrs Museum is a house located in Qurain area. Next, it turned into one of the most important museums in Kuwait because it represents the cohesion of the Kuwaiti people during the Iraqi invasion in 1990. Another reason why they made it a museum is to commemorate those who were killed in the battle. Let’s talk about what happened in this house. There were 19 members of the Kuwaiti resistance living in this house, hiding their weapons, which they used in striking the Iraqi forces. unfortunately, on February 24, 1991, two days before the liberation of Kuwait, the members of the group were surprised that there was a battalion from the Iraqi army about to storm the place because they were suspicious of it. There were also two tanks, one of them is still standing in front of the museum as a part of it. then, the battle began and lasted for 10 hours, as a result, many Iraqi forces and 12 members of the group were killed. Additionally, only 7 members managed to escape in the dark, they are alive till today. After the liberation of Kuwait, The Emir of Kuwait at the time, Sheikh Jaber Al Sabah made it a national museum, but the house was damaged, so, they reinforced it with iron. Furthermore, many tourists visit the place to know its story. Also, the house has kept the possessions of its owners till today.

Name: Meshari Yaquob Hasan
ID:53577

Since Kuwait's history lasted for three centuries, it is natural that there are landmarks that bear witness to the depth of this history. Unfortunately, some people think that Kuwait is devoid of museums and places and there is nothing to remind us of the past of the first generation except the gates of the Third Wall, the old markets and the Red Palace. I found that Kuwait blooms in several places in the memory of the first generation, but the absence of most of these landmarks from us is due to the existence of a media gap at the official level, no television programs showing these monuments and no tourist guide to show them.

The Red Palace is considered one of the most important historical landmarks of Kuwait for its association with the famous 1920 battle of Al-Jahra. Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah built the palace in 1876 in the south of Jahra and he spends his summer days in it. The name of the Red Palace derives from the type and color of its mud. The palace consists of three sections: the residence of the emir, mosque, and diwaniya. The Red Palace is used as the headquarters of the Badia Heritage Center that is under the umbrella of the National Council of Culture, Arts, and Letters. The palace is a square-shaped building with an area of about 19,000 square meters. The palace also has three main gates and towers called ghoula at the four corners of the palace that have different sizes of holes. The palace has 33 rooms and six yards, one of which has non-potable water well. Now in the red Palace, Museums are held, and an exhibition of ancient weapons was also held there. It is opened for visitors for free.

Majed fahad
ID:51836
