Indian Rebellion of 1857

Indian Mutiny was a rebellion against the rule. India calls this the first war of Independence. This began at Meerut on May 10, 1857. The Eighty-Five members of the Bengal light cavalry, most of whom had been in jail, but still got to fight in the rebellion.

Boxer Rebellion 1900-1901

The Boxer Rebellion starts and ends during this time period, the Boxers wanted to expel the foreigners from China. The Boxers began attacking the foreigners in June of 1900, and in September 1901 with all troops signing the Boxer Protocol, this allowed all of the foreign troops to stay in Beijing and China had to pay money for the damage that they caused to the foreigners.

Collapse of the Soviet Union 1991

Collapse of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union allowed elections and began a slow process of democratization which made communism unstable.

Marco Polo began his travels to on the Silk Road. He was a merchant and continued his travels to China in 1271. The travels lasted for 24 years.

Introducing Christianity to Japan 1549-1551

In this time period in Japan christianity was just beginning. Christian Ministries led by Francis Xavier entered Japan in 1549. They influenced the citizens of Japan to being christian.

Korean War 1950-1953

The Northern Korea People's army invaded South Korea on points on the 38th parallel. North Koreans wanted to comunize the whole Korean peninsula. The United States sent troops becasue they thought the Soviet Union and Comunist China encouraged the invasion. The war ended in a stalemate.

Birth of Bangladesh 1971

Pakistan used to be split into two seccions, West Pakistan and East Pakistan. West Pakistan was involved with a violent war with India in the early 1970s. On March 26, 1971 East Pakistan declares independence as Bangledesh.

Bhopal Gas Leak 1984

On December 3, 1984, the Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, India leaked methyl isocyanate gas. The toxic gas killed up to 20,000 people and it was estimated that 520,000 were affected by the gas.
