I don't think Tate should have been sentenced for life because they weren't able to prove 100% that he didn't commit this homicide on purpose but I do believe the sentence that they did end up giving him wasn't long enough. I believe he should have gotten at least 10 years in prison with the addition 1 year house arrest with the 10 year probation as well.

Although I do believe he was guilty, I don't think he deserved prison for life. Lionel should have gotten a longer sentence with a long parole, but he was only 12 years old. I think he should have "life" left to show his repentance and growth. However, if he breaks parole (like he did), he should have a harsher punishment, but still not life. He should be placed in rehab/ a 12 step program, to help change who he is. (because people do change)

I believe that Lionel Tate committed the crime and intentionally murdered the victim. Science does not lie, and the testimony of experts and physical evidence and forensic analysis that was provided, supported the notion that Lionel Tate was guilty because the evidence was probative and damning. The sentence that he received which was to be sentenced in the adult justice system conflicts with the legal system of giving a juvenile an adult sentence (which I thought you can't do). That is a right that juvenile criminals have. While the crime that Lionel Tate committed was horrendous, being sentenced to life with no option for probation may have been extreme or could be considered as cruel and unusual punishment. However, after people came to his defense on giving Lionel Tate a less severe sentence, less time, and probation, he continued to act in crimes during his probation which really shows his character and nature. The less severe sentence wasn't enough, but life in prison was too severe. This is difficult because this really sets the bar for juvenile criminals and makes them think that they can get away with horrific crimes.

Being sentenced to prison for LIFE as an ADULT I feel is quite harsh for someone who is only 12/13. (Depending on the state adulthood laws at the time), Tate should have been charged as an adult by the time he reached said age (16, 17, or 18). I do believe he is guilty of the homicide of TIffany Eunick, however I feel that he shouldn't have been charged as an adult and given the life in prison sentence. Even then, he should have been given a lighter sentence but it would still get justice for Tiffany Eunick AND teach him a lesson.
