Tittle: Meddy Teddy (A Mindful Yoga Journey)

Author: Apple Jordan

Suitable for P1 - P2

Why: I would like to recommend this book as it is easy to read which is suitable for P1 and P2 level. On each page, Meddy the Teddy shows how to execute a pose for example tree pose, warrior pose and more. Yoga and mindfulness have proven benefits for kids. Indirectly I can help students become aware of their own bodies and deal with feelings like anxiety, frustration, confusion, fear and sadness in a healthy way.

Ronald Dahl style of writing is also friendly and impressionable meaning to say the student can remember the parts of the story . He is also a good storyteller as well and is able to capture any reader’s attention and mind . You can get this book at the library or even popular bookshop ! So have fun reading Ronald Dahl’s books !

Book title: the famous five
Author: Enid Blyton

I love Enid Blyton’s books. Her language that she used in the books was easy to digest and could be easily used in composition writing. The way the author wrote it create a mystery feeling which always urge me to continue reading it.

Title of book: Ten things every child with autism wishes you knew.

Author: Ellen Notbohm

This book was recommended to me by my mentor. I feel this book is an eye opener for myself in the world of a child with autism. The author of the book is a mother of 2 sons. Her first one is diagnosed with ADHD whereas her second one is a child with autism. I felt that as I embark on being an AED LBS, this is really a useful book to immerse myself in. It allows me to see the world in the perspective of a child with autism. It portrays a genuine experience of the real struggle of a mother and her child who is diagnosed with autism. This is a first hand experience coming from a mother. Through this book, her experiences and perspectives helps to educate people like us to be more aware and how we can understand a child with autism better. Especially so as an educator, how we can provide a more conducive & inclusive environment for the child.

Title: Little Red Hood
Author: Nick Page
Where: Most books stores. I got mine from the greatest gift.
Why? It is a reading with phonic book for short “oo” sound. There are rhymes that are repeated which helps students hear the sounds and remember it. It is a different take on a classic.
