my View

The reason why students from rural areas feel isolated in online courses. They do not feel that the internet classroom is the best way for them to learn as students. They feel more comfortable in a classroom with a teacher giving them directions every day and where they can ask a question and get immediate response.In addition I think online courses sometimes led to confusion and lower motivation. They also feel isolated because their schools did not follow the design and format of the online courses.

They must learn and get used to online class because things will change as the time goes by and technology will take over. So they have to to learn while they still have chance

I do not think online classes create a sense of isolation in learners, I get that many students prefer being in classrooms and learn in groups. We can still interact with our teachers and mates using our social platforms, all we need to do is adjust and be open to learn new methods of learning. We started using this online learning thing when the Corona Virus broke out, there wasn't much we could do other than learning online because we had to protect ourselves at the same time. So it's best to just accept the situation and the new learning methods that we were introduced to and learn how to use the effectively, because some things are just beyond our control.

The reason why the students may feel isolated on online classes it is that mostly in rural areas technology is still at a lower level, for instance learners in rural areas are used to physical learning through out their primary and up to high school, so it eventually lead to facing challenges when adapting to the online courses /classes.

Online classes take away the elements of Effective Teaching. Teachers can't manage a class online. Some learners without any Wi-Fi or Internet connection can't really join a class online. The country or the Whole world in fact should have been developed to a point whereby every learner gets access to internet connection and only then we Introduce online classes

I feel that they are just not used to the change ignore using technology as means of learning and should try and make use of it because this is the 21st century and learn to adapt to it now because in soon we won’t even have teacher or lectures giving lectures but there will be Robots so better to adapt now than later

I do not believe that only learners who come from rural areas are affected by Online Learning. Even those used to it can become distracted and bored in a way and be lead away from motivation and finishing their work. We all got used to having a teacher at front and your friends next to you, but that too was a challenge. Anything that requires change, will be a struggle but it's not a problem, it just needs you to adapt to it.

Students face so many challenges with online class. This has a greater impact on disadvantaged learners who do not have access to all the resources such as network and laptops. It’s really hard to adapt to these class especially when we are not used to this.

Most Students from rural area they are not exposed to online learning due to lack of resources...so it become a huge transition for them when they have to take online courses...The use of ICT can be very challenging especially if theres no one you can rely to...thats why most of the time they isolate themselves.

I can say that online classes were a bit complicated at first because I did not know about how i should attend a class even to attend my orientations i thought there would be someone like a mentor whom would have taught us how to use blackboard and explain to us as to what is blackboard

Student from rural areas my feel isolated because many student prefer a face to face lecture and some students face technical issues when they are in rural area and network is a common problem .Online classes require a lot of work especially when you are a first year student and you are not used to ICT.

Some students learn a lot on group work since they are coming up with different ideas so some student become productive in that way .

ICT are the most needed matirials at school to help students, in rural schools there's lack of ICT and that cause stress for the students,lead to negetivity because they are expected to have regular access to technology. If they don't , it is likely their education will suffer

From my perspective I think that the government is failing children who are at rural areas because those learners in their schools there's a lot that they lack of so I don't understand that how come they don't get quality education just like the ones at urban areas. Department is really failing those children because they are limiting them in know more knowledge

Using ICT means children can become dependent on computers and technology and not learn how to do things by hand. Internet can lead to children accessing unsuitable sites. Hardware can be unreilable leading to breakdowns which cause fustration. Plagiarism has increased as students find pre written work online leading to students gaining unfair results on coursework. But I think ICT will empower teachers and learners, transforming teaching and learning processes from being highly teacher-dominated to student-centred, and this transformation will result in increased learning gains for students, creating and allowing for opportunities for learners.

Ict is not good for everyone because of network and loading shedding and some people find it difficult because they are not used to it

I disagree with the use of ICT's. Yes it may be beneficial in many ways but at the same time, it doesn't allow for inclusive teaching or for learners to even learn something! I would rather teach face to face and give learners an experience of a lifetime than them being stuck looking at a screen

I feel that using ICT in education is a good thing because in the world we currently live having the skills and abilities that ICT help you develop is very important. We are currently in the 4th industrial revolution and having said skills will be important because you will miss out on great opportunities if you do not have them. As teachers having them will also help us because there are a big number of online schools in South Africa now and we could end up teaching at a school like this then we will be able to help our students even more seeing as we have done remote learning and know what is needed by the students since we were in these situations to.

It's is very helpful , and I fully agree with what you are saying in your padlet. It's was brought to make life easier for us. Using it in school's should be a big advantage for children who is struggling. They'll have a better understanding of what is being taught , and they'll have more understanding when they are able to use ICT's

i agree 100 percent, i honestly dont wish we could go in and have face 2 face classes because i learn better with the eye then when someone explains and sometimes lectures arent clear and its probably much more difficult for them
