She tells him about her dream to play for the boys football team and he doesn't take the hint and she asks him outright. He doesn't want to do it at first but she convinced him to let her a least try-out. 
She survives try-outs and makes the team and the back up QB. Jeff plays horrible for multiple games and he starts to put it Alex during blow-outs.
Alex after making three comebacks down a least 14 every time and the coach finally gives her the start position and then she declines.
