Vision Statement

Our understanding of the vision statement is:
- That teachers support the children to explore and make mistakes.
- The children have their ideas reinforced.
- Thoughts and contributions to the centre environment are valued.
- Teachers work to help children to become confident in themselves, the things they are interested in, and what they are doing and learning.
- Children are given the opportunity to have a say in what goes on in the centre and what they get involved in.
- Children are given options so that they can experiment and explore different things.

How did we see this in our centres?
- teachers supervised and supported children without stepping in to take over straight away. They waited until either the child asked for help and looked like they really needed it or if it was necessary.
- both of our centres focused on free play which gave the children lots of opportunities to take control of their own learning. Different activities were set up each day to give the children a variety of experiences.

This image reflects that a child should be made to feel important by teachers, creating a sense of confidence within. and enhancing their mana. Along with, that a child’s whole-being is acknowledged by teachers, so a child is made to feel important when taking control of their own learning, creating a sense of competency. This image resembles a boy who has been given the encouragement to be secure in what he believes in and his self, and that he has been encouraged to persevere for all his endeavours. I love that the boy in my image is dressed as a hero, I think it is important that teachers prepare children that their actions affect society, and that they are super heroes with responsibilities for themselves, whānau and society.
