What authors do to make us feel a certain way is that they use exaggerated words and add ups and downs into the story. for example: in Daniel's story there was a time where Aunt Leah wanted to go with the two daughters to auschwitz and they wouldn't let her so they had shot her. That could make the reader feel very emotional and maybe sad or traumatized while reading.

This book is kind of sad it's about heartbreak and love. It's also about past regret and it's a love story with truth and tragedy and the unexpected bounds that heal us. it teaches what heartbreak is and what heartbreak feels like and healing but old feelings start to come back and that's what the author is trying to tell us.

Authors tend to add very emotional feelings to the characters to make the readers feel sad, happy, and proud for the character.

The tone - The author’s attitude or mood through word choice. A sarcastic tone can make readers feel amused or skeptical, while a somber tone might evoke sadness, their is a hopeful tone, sad tone, happy tone, angry tone, etc.

How the author's writing can be emotional like Daniel's story, and we were basically watching him in the background, seeing him go through death with his family, and being sent to camps, and being fed nearly nothing, almost near death, only surviving because of his father's trading.
