The organisation Youth for Environment is suing the Norwegian state for violating their right to a liveable environment for current and future generations. This violation is closely linked to the third generation human rights, collective rights, that has an aim at protecting the environment.

The lawsuit is based on paragraph 112 in the Norwegian constitution, also called the climate-paragraph, as the NGO states that the Norwegian state is not upholding their rights by consequently boring for oil in the Norwegian and Barents sea.

The lawsuit is still ongoing and is now taken to the Norwegian Supreme court as the NGO lost the previous trials. However, despite a possible failure in winning the lawsuit, the organisation has increased its member numbers and gained greater respect and recognition, perhaps strengthening their ability to monitor the violation of human rights in the future.

Specific rights violated:
- European Convention of Human rights (right to live, adequate and sufficient measures, burden and margin of appreciation).

It was initiated by Mirsad Hadzikadic, the president of the party, who thought that the postponing of the local elections to November 15th was unconstitutional, that it denied the citizens of B&H their political rights and that it was the first step in a plan for the “Mostarization” of B&H, where the elections would be postponed indefinitely.

Impact: Around 10 protests were organized in six different cities across B&H, with about 15 thousand protesters in total attending them. The protests lowered the popularity of the coalition, and increased the popularity of the opposition. It also contributed that the elections do not get postponed further and that the opposition gets a majority in a number of major cities around B&H.
