In the United States we use the electoral college to vote for the presidential election. Some weaknesses that include in this are that by following the electoral college gives only certain states an importance of votes in the presidential election, and five times in the past years of the presidential election has the president won the electoral college and not the popular vote. Some strengths that the electoral college has equal numbers of each state based on their population, making it the idea of how each state has equal number of votes in the election. I think that the electoral college has been outdated and that this needs to updated, I believe we should just elect presidents based on the popular vote. By using the popular vote it will make the citizens more pleased with the winner as they know they are directly voting for what they want to see change.

The Electoral College has both strengths and weaknesses which make it a controversial part of our election process. One strength of the Electoral College is that it protects the interests of less populated states as it ensures that they still have a voice in deciding the president in the midst of largely populated states. However, the system does have some major flaws. For instance, it makes it possible for a candidate to win the election without winning the popular vote which many people feel is unfair and undemocratic. Additionally, the winner-takes-all method used in most states gives too much power to swing states, while voters who reside in predominately blue or red states might feels as if their vote doesn't even matter. Because of these reasons, many people feel that the system should be update or replaced with a national popular vote. This would ensure that every vote carries equal weight and would help to make the outcomes of the elections accurately reflect the will of the people.

The Electoral College has many strengths, for instance fair campaigning. What this means is the electoral college makes it so the candidates must campaign to all states instead of just large populated areas. A weakness of the Electoral College is the fact that a candidate can win the popular vote but lose the election. I believe that our election process should be switched from an electoral college system to a popular vote system. What I mean by this is that the popular vote would determine the election winner. This would allow equal representation for all voters, and result in a higher voter turn out. More people would vote in elections due to the fact that their vote would count the same as someone else's in a different state that might have a different population. I believe that the popular vote system would allow US citizens to truly elect the candidate that they want.

The Electoral Collage has many strengths and weaknesses. One of these strengths is that candidates will interact closely with states in order to gain the most amount of votes. They adjust their campaigns in order to meet the needs of the people in that state. But the Electoral Collage has several weaknesses. For one it is possible that a candidate can win without winning the national majority votes. All a candidate needs to do to win, is to win the electoral majority. This means that it is possible that a less popular candidate can win. This can leave citizens displeased. This system also makes it so certain states will be favored above others. States with a higher population are visited while ones with a smaller population are often ignored. If we switch to using the national majority system, the candidate with the most votes overall will win. This will also make it so candidates will have to focus on what the majority of the population needs, rather than just what the states with the most population need. This will force candidates to focus on everyone equally. This system is also much easier for new voters to understand. If someone votes for a certain candidate but the majority of the state votes for a different candidate, this will cause the states electors to vote solely for the candidate with the most amount of votes. This can leave voters feeling frustrated and make them believe that their vote doesn't count. Using a national majority can fix that.

The Electoral College system has many strengths and weaknesses. For instance, this system ensures that all communities, rural or urban, poor or affluent, populous or small, are all recognized and equally considered. In order to win with an electoral system, a President would most likely have to visit all states to campaign instead of just the populous ones. If the President were elected through the popular vote alone, it would only make sense to campaign in the larger states where your speeches would reach the most people. The Electoral system does have its downsides, however. One major flaw in the system is that a person's vote in a small swing state would objectively hold more power than a vote from a large state that is usually loyal to one party. Also, it may discourage voter turnout in non-swing states, or safe states, because people feel like one red vote in a major blue state (or vice-versa) won´t make a difference. Politicians have been trying to remove or change this system for years, and I agree with them. In my opinion, with the size and population of the nation, we have simply outgrown this system, and it is not as useful as it was when the Founding Fathers created it at the Constitutional Convention. I think the fact that some people's votes hold more weight than others is reason alone to get rid of the system. All citizens should be equally accounted for, as that is what a democracy is.

The Representatives in the electoral college are based on the population of each state, which ensures that the population of each state is represented properly in the election. The electoral college is supposed to cast their votes based on the winner of the popular vote of the state they represent. This is where the weakness emerges. Despite the fact that the electoral college is supposed to vote for who wins the popular vote, but that is not always the case. Some politicians become corrupt, and accept sums of money when deciding who to vote for, which can sway their vote. This can be changed by improving the security of the political system in our country to prevent backdoor deals.
