Basically, my idea is that Madi will star as the naive romantic in the video, and she will go through something similar to the five stages of grief upon being rejected:

·         Denial

·         Anger

·         Bargaining (“If only…”, “what if…”, etc)

·         Depression

·         Acceptance (with a twist)

I think that denial doesn’t give us much to work with as a stage itself when it comes to love, so I’ve merged it with anger and bargaining. Instead, Shock will be the first stage. 

In the Shock stage, Geoffrey mentioned having Madi (I’ll refer to the character she plays as the Girl) dance around happily for a bit with a balloon, which reflects the innocent idea of love. The moment the balloon pops symbolises the rejection of her love and, and it all spirals down from there. Madi also suggested having black confetti in the balloon, to contrast the colourful confetti used by Lacey in Love Me, Love Me. The black confetti could possibly represent the Girl’s negative thoughts.

Following the rejection, we enter the Anger stage. Here, the Girl straight-up throws a tantrum of sorts, clearly hurt by the rejection.

Then we follow up with the Bargaining stage. After the outburst, the Girl tries to ‘fix’ herself. She’s correcting whatever ‘flaws’ she can find, which hints at her self-destructive thoughts of trying to make herself better. (“If I make myself slimmer/curvier/blonde/bustier/etc, will he finally love me back?”) Maybe one way of showing this is having the Girl erratically putting on make-up in front of a makeshift dressing table, in an effort to “make herself prettier”. 

The Girl then realises that this way of coping is not helping her at all, which leads into the Depression stage. This is where basically the Girl breaks down.

Then we finally move on to the Acceptance stage, where the Girl eventually comes to terms with her rejection. I can’t remember if it was Geoffrey or Lexi who came up with the idea of having a reverse shot of the balloon popping, but putting this shot in this stage basically symbolises her not healing fully and/or properly from the whole ordeal. This could allude to the Girl’s now jaded, and perhaps even cynical, attitude towards the idea of love. It’s a harsh contrast to her originally seeing love through rose colored glasses. And it kinda fits with Lacey’s intentions in Love Me, Love Me, which touches on the concept of love in modern society. Because not everybody can easily bounce back from a rejection, or come back the same for that matter. 

I also like Lexi’s idea of having a rose to symbolise the Girl’s love, and having shots of its petals falling/being plucked throughout the video. In the end, the petal-less rose is replaced by a new rose, albeit withered and slightly brown, once again inferring that the Girl hasn’t fully recovered right.

Also I know that this idea can be a bit dark at times, so if any of the parts makes you uncomfortable or just the whole idea in general, just let me know and we’ll change it. Just wanna make sure everyone is A-okay with this kind of direction! I’m also open to other ideas you guys might other than this one.

8. Grabbing clothes and throwing them around the room, trying them on
9. Make up scene- putting on lipstick, blush ect
10. Stops and starts crying - make up runs down face
11. Sits on her bed and stares at ceiling while she cries

12. Get out of bed, play music and start dancing through the room. 
13. Madi freezes.
