I was privileged to grow up with everything I ever needed in a loving household with my mom, dad, older sister, and younger brother. I need to keep all of this in mind as I teach my future students because every person comes from a different background and culture. To ensure that all of my students feel comfortable and safe in my classroom, I want to develop close relationships with each individual so they can focus on learning. I went from being a star student in elementary school to needing extra help in almost every subject. I was not offered a variety of ways to present the information I had learned, and instead was expected to learn in a singular way.
