Red sea coral reef is located near six different countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen, Djibouti, Eritria. The Red Sea is connected to the Indian ocean near the Northern and Eastern Hemisphere. The red sea is made up of a colony of Polyps that act as one organism. They get their colors from zooxanthellae, which is the organisms that live on them. The zooxanthellae have a symbiotic relationship from the food preservation they give the polyps in exchange for protection in their structure.

The Red Sea covers almost more than 1% of the ocean with association of eco-systems such as, islands, mangroves, and marsh. Thus, from their beautiful bright colors and lack of coral reefs they bring lots of tourists in those areas. For every 1 meter of coral reefs there is up to $300,000 in tourism revenue.

The major issues that are threatening the Red Sea is the overwhelming increase in climate change, ocean acidification, diseases, overfishing, sedimentation and pollution, which decline the population of all coral reefs. Coral bleaching is one of the greatest threats, which is when the Red Sea can no longer sustain life in their environment making them remove all zooxanthellae and dying. Also, as the ocean acidifies creating more carbon dioxide making it a harder living environment for the Red Sea causing them to decrease in physical structure.

The united Nations Environment Programme and Hepca are organizations dedicated to marine life that are voicing out the harmful effects of different coral reefs and bringing awareness to help save those environments. One key factor is the amount of pollution, to degrade those issues people have teamed up to rid the Red Sea of plastic bags, which is one of the major issues. Also, they have created a foundation for people to send money to help all coral reefs.
