· Slow our speech down

· Use shorter sentences

· Use lots of different styles to deliver the necessary information (oral, written, videos, student and teacher demonstration, etc.)

· Provide bilingual handouts

· Make sure I have word walls on display in my classroom

· Get to know our ELL students, they may not have English knowledge but may have strong reading, writing, speaking skills in their native language

· Make sure we model (demonstrating, think out loud)

· Try to use visual cues, gestures

· Try to always give both verbal and written instructions

· Check regularly for understanding

· Continue to encourage our ELL students to use their native language and continue building their literacy skills in their native language
