Or us posting that we usually think before we post. But do you really feel our generation is really going to think before posting some maybe but not a lot really think that question "Is this really going to effect us in the long wrong"? . Like we see all these stars that some of us look up too and post some inappropriate stuff. And yes, maybe we think that's ok but it really isn't. After reading theses I feel like we should really think before posting because maybe it will haunt you later in life when you don't expect it.

"Another trick is to use hidden apps like Calculator% and Calculator+ that look like regular calculators, but require users to enter their passcode to reveal a back storage area containing private photos." I don't see why you would hide pictures because if you take them then why would you hide them. In the other article I read, it was about kids who weren't aloud to play in the softball tournament because they posted something "inappropriate" on their social media and I feel that the right decision was taking them out because they knew that other people would see the pictures they posted. Nice job Maddie! 10/10

As said in an article, "Also popular with secretive teens are storage apps like Vaulty, which allows users to hide photos and videos..." This app, Vaulty, also says that "Users can create two passwords for one vault, with each password tied to a specific level of access. So, a parent who insists that a teen hand over the password still might be getting limited." I feel like if you have to hide something, then you shouldn't do it at all. You don't want to go apply for college or a job and they tell you no because of what you posted on social media, right? Then think before you post!

Social media is everywhere these days, and today's generation is the first one to be born into a world full of iphones and instant messaging. We take the promised security of Instagram and snapchat (along with other social media platforms) for granted. The contents of these articles explain the errors that we face in a society that's new to this type of connection. Anything can be traced back to you, even when you think that nothing can be associated to you under a pseudonym and a private account. It also opens up a whole new type of resume, one where colleges and employers can be seeing what you didn't exactly hand over to them. "The effect of this can lead to teens and adults sharing photos and words that wouldn't ever be said outside of social media. The ready availability of tools to hide teen social media use can be problematic, leading teens to overshare images, videos and commentary". What these "almost" Harvard students did were images of humor, not meant to offend, but certainly not okay to share and perpetuate. Especially if you are part of the lucky few admitted into an Ivy Leauge school. What they did was out of line, however the punishment seemed a bit harsh in my eyes, but the Dean of Harvard probably has a different view of how his students should be behaving online. Most kids these days have private finsta to share their thoughts to a select group, and while using these platforms to gossip and spread rumors does not hold integrity, the private lives of students and adults should have some slack. They private accounts for the same reason they might privately text someone, its a faster was to communicate to a wide range of people.

Everything you post online is there forever; even after you attempt to delete things, others could have taken screenshots and practically anything can be found. "Harvard College rescinded admissions offers to at least ten prospective members of the Class of 2021 after the students traded sexually explicit memes and messages that sometimes targeted minority groups in a private Facebook group chat." This proves that actions can and will be taken if conversation gets too out of hand.

These articles show that paying attention to what you post online is extremely important. Social media is most likely the largest thing that the population is a part of today. Anyone can access and trace posts, photos, and videos shared by every single person using these sites. People don't necessarily think about what they post online to the extent of it potentially ruining your future. When things become explicit or violent, it can automatically affect your current life, by being punished by a school or team, and ripping any chance of a great job or school away from you. For example, "Messages shared in the original group were mostly “lighthearted,” wrote Zhang, who said she did not post in the splitoff meme group and that her admission offer was not rescinded. But some members soon suggested forming “a more R-rated” meme chat, according to Cassandra Luca ’21, who joined the first meme group but not the second, and who also said her offer was not revoked." These college freshmen were taken out of Harvard because of the bad things they posted. Things you do on social media are permanent and not posting the right things can have serious consequences.

Social media is a huge part of people’s everyday lives and could potentially get you into huge trouble. In a recent article, the New York Times states “some of that communication can be positive, allowing teenagers to explore their own identity development and find a sense of belonging, it can also get teens in trouble.” Many students have gotten in major trouble by posting or tweeting negative thoughts about their peers, teachers, and administrators. Because the students did not think carefully about how their post could impact the everyday lives of those people, suspension or other punishments could have potentially occurred. Based on the articles that I read, it is important to make sure you are proud of what you are posting and that you are leaving a good digital footprint behind every time you go online. It is extremely important to remember that everything online is permanent and even if you delete something after you post it, it can still be traced back to you.

Like for example, if you are posting memes you should always make sure that if you see offensive ones to leave so you don't get associated with the people doing it.

After reading the articles about the Harvard suspensions I feel that the college did the right thing. The boys were supporting sexual assault, which is illegal, and sharing it in a group chat. Yes, these had nothing to do with the school, but this group of boys were chosen to represent the University of Harvard and should have seen this coming. Although they may have not have been caught they should have thought to themselves, “would I show this to my mother?” Lastly, everything you post on social media, whether in a group chat or to the public, it still is out there in a little icloud just waiting to be discovered.

I don't think they made a bad decision because teens always post videos, memes , and pictures. If its not appropriate they shouldn't be posting it or even if its something that could hurt others. People just have to be careful of what they post.

After reading the article on the softball players getting disqualified I feel that was an unfair punishment. I mean people do these types of things to rivals all the time and don't get in trouble. Even in the MLB games they sometimes will spit on each other or shove each other. I just think that people know how common this kind of thing is.

After reading the multiply articles I have learned that anything and everything you post on the internet follows you and could haunt you like in the article about the softball team those girls now have to be haunted with the fact that they ruined a special momment for the entire team. Then again in another article multiply harvard students were un-enrolled because of posting inappropriate memes on the internet and that is now life changing for them, they may not get the job they want all because of something they thought was funny in high school. So in the end dont post something if you cant talk to your parents about it or even let them see it maybe its such a good choice to post it.
