         <title>Fugitive Slave Act</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Fugitive Slave Act was two laws that allowed and encouraged the hunting and capturing of escaped slaves. The government told slave hunters to bring back hunted slaves to court and have them tried. The main flaw of this act was that the court didn't ask for documentation so hunters could bring back anyone they found and make a profit. </div>]]></description>

The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment banned slavery unless as a punishment for crime, clarified who was an American citizen and stopped the U.S. Government from denying citizens the right to vote based on race, color, or past servitude. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Prison Lease System started and ended at many different times in different states in America. The system allowed companies to rent workers who were imprisoned. Companies paid the prisons which allowed for both the companies and the prisons to profit off of slave like exploitation. Prisons at the time were almost entirely full of black, wrongly arrested convicts. </div>]]></description>

This caused many black Americans to be hired into low paying industrial jobs.  In 1919, when the war was over many white men returned from war and started to look for work. When they say many jobs had been filled by black citizens, tensions started to rise. This caused many white Americans to attend violent riots and caused many black  Americans deaths. </div>]]></description>
