When reading the sentences, I noticed that both included comparisons. However, the first sentence uses a simile to compare (the drawing is like a weird mushroom shaped robot) and the second sentence uses a metaphor (the face was a glowing ember).

-When reading these two sentences, I immediately began to visualize the sentences in my head. I can see an accurate picture of Darth Vader and then I can also visualize a mushroom-shaped robot. In the second sentence I can picture his face with an orange-red glow to it. I also noticed that both sentences are comparing people to non-human objects.
-A difference I noticed between these two sentences are the ways they are written. The top sentence is very specific, comparing Darth Vader to a mushroom-shaped robot. The second sentence is less specific, only comparing a voice to a glowing ember.

I noticed that both sentences have a comma followed by the word but. I also noticed that they both use adjectives, "mushroom-shaped" and "glowing ember."
They are a bit different because the first sentence compares by using the word "like." In the second sentence they describe her face using "was."
