Nanotechnology refers to the branch of science and engineering devoted to designing, producing, and using structures, devices, and systems by manipulating atoms and molecules at nanoscale with a size between 1 and 100 nanometers (1 nm = 10−9 meters). Basically, nanotechnology is the extension of existing sciences to the nanoscale. The fact that, the smaller the objects become, the greater the ratio of surface area to volume is one of the most important features of the nanoscale. This phenomena has made it possible to develop intriguing materials and novel applications. Copper, aluminium, gold, and silicon are a few examples. Furthermore, nanotechnology advancements have led to improved sunscreen creams, waterproof clothing, and cosmetics.

Mechanical recycling is one of the most popular methods for recycling, specifically for plastics like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Soft drink bottles and containers are frequently made from PET and HDPE, which are reasonably simple to recycle. Mechanical recycling is the conversion of used plastics into secondary raw materials or finished goods without appreciably altering the chemical composition of the material. The quality of all thermoplastics can be mechanically recycled with little to no effect. First few steps were taken such as collecting and first sorting. Then, shredding. Next, washing. Continued by second sorting and control then extrusion.

Recycling technologies transform waste into innovative products. They entail gathering recyclable items, producing or reprocessing them into new products, and purchasing recycled-materials products.

Three types of recycling:

Mechanical Recycling - The granules are mechanically transformed into new materials while their chemical structures remain intact.

Energy Recycling - Plastics can be formed into both thermal and electrical energy. The process is carried out by intergrating through combustion, as well as the heat released in the form of fuel.

Chemical Recycling - Plastics' chemical structures are transformed upon reprocessing.
