Dec. 14, 2015
ROHA is the ancient name for the city now called Lalibela. The most famous church in Lalibela is The Church of Saint George because it was carved into the shape of a cross. There are many more churches in Lalibela. In fact, there are 11 churches, and they are all carved from stone. The largest Hotel in Lalibela is called the Roha Hotel, in honor of the towns heritage.
-------------------------------------------
Dec.10, 2015
I learned that Yeidj Saat literally means hand watch. From Western time to Ethiopian time, there is a 6 hour difference. If it is 7 in western time, it would be 1 in Ethiopian time.
-------------------------------------------
Egzie HarayaDec. 8, 2015
I learned that King Matalome tried to marry Egzie Haraya, but he did not care that she was already married to Saga Zaab. Tha king's servants dressed Egzie Haraya in fine colored silks, and covered her in gold embroidered veil. Meanwhile, her husband was looking for her, with the news that they were going to have a child.
-------------------------------------------
Dec. 4, 2015
Today I learned that Tekla Haymanot made many miracles. This is one of them:
A man was driving his cattle to drink in the river when a crocodile caught hold of an ox's leg.
"St Tekla Haymonot save him!" cried the man. The crocodile's teeth broke in his head and the ox escaped unharmed.
-------------------------------------------
Dec. 2, 2015
One thing I learned was that in the 4th century, 2 Syrian boys landed in Ethiopia. People captured them and took them to the king. They became trusted servants for the king. I also learned, that people believed in a miracle child, who ended the famine by only touching the empty baskets, and they were once full of flour and oil once more.
-------------------------------------------
Nov. 30, 2015
Today I learned that when Portuguese travelers first found Ethiopia, many many yeas ago, they had thought, that they found the land of Prester John. When they got there, they found a great Christan Kingdom with churches ancient books, and monasteries. They were not expecting that, but were expecting rich treasures. Ethiopia is also one of the oldest christan counties.
-------------------------------------------
Nov. 23, 2015
Question 5. The illustrations I found interesting in the book I read, were the ones of birds. The birds I thought looked the most interesting were the Spot-breasted Plover, the Prince Ruspoli's Turaco, and the Harwood's Francolin.
-------------------------------------------
Nov. 6, 2015
Question 3. I would like to read more about this topic because the battle of
-------------------------------------------
Nov. 4, 2015
Question 1. I enjoyed learning about the different celebration and beliefs of the Ethiopians. I learned that some of my cultures celebrations have some similarities to the Ethiopian celebrations. Like that my Easter and Their Easter are both basted on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
------------------------------------------
Nov. 2, 2015
Question 12. I learned the word for no problem, is "Chegger Yellem". It means the same thing as "Hakuna Matata", the swahili words for no problem. This will help me out of school if someone bumps into me and they say sorry, I can just tell them "Chegger Yellem". LOL ( :
-------------------------------------------
Oct.29
Most people in Deru Welteaa are Muslims.
Question 11. This would have been different 10 years ago, because there could have been more or less Muslims then.
-------------------------------------------
Oct. 27
Question 2. I would like to share about the famine in the year 1983 in Ethiopia. Because of this famine the government forced thousands of people move to where they might be able to grow food to eat.
-------------------------------------------
Oct. 15

Question 1. I enjoyed learning about their tools. One thing I learned was that they used Obsidian to make their tools in the early Ethiopian ages.

-------------------------------------------

1. why are there so many dogs here?

2.Was Ambo originally made here in Ethiopia?

3. Why is this country poor? What is the reason behind it?

4. What is the traditional dance is called?

5. Is the ARCH OF THE CONVENIENT really here in Ethiopia?

6.

1. I enjoyed learning about the history of Ethiopia's religion. I learned about the two Syrian boys who came to Ethiopia and then were found and had to work as the kings servants and they taught him about being christian.

Dec.2

2. Out of the information I learned I would like to share with someone else the story of St. Tekla Haymont because it is quite an interesting one, all about powers and kidnapping and the power of the lord and the power of saints.

Dec. 4

3.I think I would like to keep reading about this topic because it is very interesting. I think the most interesting part is the part when the Italians decided to just come and start war.

Dec. 8

4. Something else I would like to learn about this topic is why the Italians wanted to colonize the Ethiopians and why the emperor didn't just communicate with the Italians

5. Dec.10

The illustrations that I found interesting are the ones of St. Tekla Haymont. The best one was of when his leg was cut of and he was praying to god. The illustrator also did a good job painting St. Tekla Haymont's cell.

Dec. 14

The book/Article is not similar to other book/Articles because I haven't really read many things about the battle of adwa but I think there might be many articles about it.
