- Yes, as it has made me question how much these fairy tales have potentially warped my perception of equality, values, and my beliefs. Although I read these stories as a child, it has made me think about some of my subconscious assumptions, prompting me to be more careful and not make such assumptions in the future.

2) How do text and media influence our beliefs?
- Text and media influence our beliefs by often presenting a single story repeatedly. By receiving constant exposure to a certain opinion, it becomes an assumption that we unknowingly use to judge others and make assumptions based on our altered beliefs.

3) How do women access “success” within patriarchal norms?
- The "success" women can access under patriarchal norms is dictated by those norms, when in fact these sexist norms restrict women from being themselves. To take an example, a stay-at-home mom that takes care of her children could be considered "successful" through the eyes of patriarchy, when sexism in that woman's life stopped them from pursuing their dreams in favor of staying at home to take care of her children, a sexist idea based on the fact that men have to make money while women do the domestic work.

4) List a few gender stereotypes that you have personally witnessed.
- My dad cooks but visitors usually compliment my mom for making the food.
- "Stop crying like a girl."

5) Is individual autonomy necessary for progress in society?
- Yes. Yes, as I had no idea about the (seemingly important) details left out in the children's book. These stories were meant to teach children about morals and judgment, but a lot of the stories themselves seem to have extremely inappropriate backstories.
2. Almost everything we believe is sourced from text, whether news sources or ancient fables. Text has the unique ability of making a point and then being able to convince the reader by either using statistics that support their argument or conveniently leaving out important points that argue for the opposite point. Text has been utilized increasingly in effort to influence, not to express.

Lets take cinderella as an example. Before, my perspective on it was a girl who worked hard to help her stepsisters and eventually it all paid off when she got what she wanted and ended up going to the ball. But, when I read it again when I was older, it was a completely other perspective. Turns out that when the prince came to search for the actual owner of the glass slipper, the wicked stepsisters actually butchered their own feet in order for them to fit into the glass slipper. This portrayed a violent element.
2) Texts and the media does influence our beliefs. On the news and other channels, we believe whatever we see from a proper source of information and an example of a proper source of information can be in the form of news channels. On these pieces of text and the media, have valid sources of information and graphical proof to prove their point due to which it may influence our belief(s).

The first thing someone might think if they see a Muslim could be they or their family might be a terrorist.
"Girls should play with dolls and boys should play with cars".
Boys should like dark colors or blue and girls should like light colors and/or pink.

2)They create this false narrative and false image of what a person or experience should be like, especially when it is projected to impressionable children. For example, the only narrative and depiction running on media, tv, and in literature is only muslims can be extremists and terrorists, which is completely untrue and unfair. This narrative is harmful to children of that religion, as their confidence can be harmed

4) -Not being able to be completely fulfilled and happy in life without a husband
- Being wary of what you wear and how you look outside the house
- Men will be men/ boys will be boys(harms both genders)

5) I think it is important to live life on one's own rules and morals, as it allows people to develop their own thoughts and opinions, as well as unlock their full capacity and potential. If everyone follows one ideology and way of life mindlessly, we will never be able to move forward and progress.

I was never had such a perception. Many people that I know have framed and reinforced stereotypes into the society on the basis of these fairytales. To an extent, I do feel like my prior subconscious judgements had a bias that I was unaware of. 

2) Text and media are mediums of spreading a message. Over the years, they have been effective in conveying a certain point of view. Media and text are common, they do have a negative connotation towards the prejudice that is built in one's mind. Media is impressionable. Fairytales are told to younger children because they have vulnerable minds that can be easily fooled. 

3) There are a lot of stereotypes which start the affect people on a much larger scale. Patriarchy is a system and to beat the system, one needs to go beyond a limit and prove it. A lot of females in a certain field have lower chances of success because the person who can change their career or help their success is usually a male. A study done in Chicago goes to show that black female names get fewer call backs from a company as compared to the others. Racial discrimination along with sexism is slowing down the success of a woman. 

4) Females are oppressed in so many places. Some are forced into the typical approach to live in terms of education, clothing and even freedom. If you're a girl you will get paid lesser, stay out lesser, and with have to quit to get married and give birth. Males also face stereotypes that associate them to a female behaviour such as crying. Such things are frowned upon. 

5) Having authority, control or ability to do what you want and express your opinions and feeling should be necessary. Without this we will lack perspective and this turns onto a single sided story. This can cause the degradation of the society. In order for progress to take place, the people need to be inclusive and considerate. 4) Gender stereotyping is a type of a view which mainly focuses on attributes and characteristics which focuses on mainly men and women . 
For example 
Both my parents go to the office but still many expect my mom to be at home
5) Yes it is important because people need to perceive because they need to express themselves and they need to be responsible for their actions . It basically focuses on what's the right action 
For example if your  a manager you should be focusing on the tasks not the tasks people are doing by managing them just because your a manager or owner

Yes, it definitely has, I have read a few fairy tales when I was young. The way I interpret stories now and how I interpreted them before is completely different and after reading the same stories now, I am able to understand things much more. It unquestionably has changed my perspective on how I will view certain texts, as I now understand that old children's fairy tails had a darker, deeper meaning, and horrific events that have taken place, which is glorified and romanticised to a great extent, which is very disturbing)

2.How do text and media influence our beliefs?
Most of what media shows today are ideals and concepts that the westerners write, which are very one-sided and repetitive, and often what guides and manipulates the rest of the world to believe and think is correct as well. Media and literature is also very influential and has majority of the control of our perspective as it is an essential tool by which we communicate, get our news and information from, and has the power to coerce us into doing actions to which we might know the consequences of. 

3.How do women access “success” within patriarchal norms?
In stories that were beloved in our childhood, such as cinderella ,snow-white, sleeping beauty, rapunzel, etc... the women in these stories are always being victimised and trapped in a situation(always playing the role of damsel in distress) where they need external help and rescue, which is almost always a "handsome", "strong" man who falls for their external beauty, who's only job is rescue them portraying that superiority complex between the two sexes. (This makes vulnerable children think that having conventionally attractive features is what will make us 'successful' in life, and our only goal in life is to find a 'strong' man, which is a very false and dangerous morals being showcased to young individuals). These superficial and taunting morals can completely transpose young children's mind and make them wanting to be someone they're not. 

4.List a few gender stereotypes that you have personally witnessed.
 - In family gatherings one's skin complexion is always discussed(weather someone has gotten more tanned or pale)
- People viewing petite, thin women more attractive than women that are a larger, and/or more dusky.
- whenever someone is being judged it is more so of their external physique rather than who they actually are.
- Scrutinising only a girl for her personal choice of not getting married before or at the age of 25, or not having kids. (The man never getting judged)
- Girls always being talking loudly.

5. Is individual autonomy necessary for progress in society?
Definitely, because we as a society are always looking for a direction to follow, and to be led, and having opinions based on what is declared in the western media. We should be encouraged to have our own thoughts and opinions to be able to stand up for ourselves and share our opinions that may not be conventional, and can actually be the start of a revolution

I had never read fairytales nor did I have them read to me when I was younger, so I learned of the horrific inspirations that they were conceived from prior to reading the tales themselves.

2) Text and media are immensely powerful tools that can completely mangle one's psyche and induce hive-mindedness in the masses. All of our actions are dictated by some form of textual or colloquial communication. Language is the manner by which we attain, exchange, and lose knowledge. If we consistently allow the media we consume to be sourced from unequivocal and biased sources the natural dynamicity of our minds is ravaged.

3) Although there have been massive strides in women's rights since the early 1900s, the journey towards the liberation of women from the shackles of the patriarchy is incomplete. There are still far too many nations in which state-sanctioned misogyny is commonplace. Even in developed nations, regressive and patriarchal norms are intertwined within the fabric of society. Overcoming these oppressive impositions is a strenuous process for women who want to live normal and professional lives outside of the bubble of traditional gender roles. Concisely, there is no success for women in a male-dominated society because they are not given the freedom to make their own choices. Success is- to a certain extent- subjective and any successful venture undertaken by a woman against her should not be defined as female success in the patriarchy. 3. Patriarchy produces gender inequality but its consequences run deeper than the gender inequality. Sustainable patriarchy simply describes how a system of ideas and relationships that so many women have risked their reputations and lives to challenge has, nonetheless, managed to survive. women and girls are confined to fulfilling roles as mothers, wives and caretakers. Gender norms position girls as caretakers, which leads to gender inequality in how the roles for a women are just distributed to the household levels only.

4. my own parents restrict me by putting a curfew at night where as my brother doesn't have any curfew. when i ash them why all they say is "your a girl its for ur safety"
