The visualization that I liked on Tableau was "Turn Waste into Profit/Open Data Jabar" by Gandes Goldestan.
1. The problem that is being addressed is waste management and how to cut down on waste by setting up Waste Banks. Participants in the program bring their waste to the nearest waste bank and sort it into organic and recyclable products.
2. This is an excellent way to display the information. Data from four consecutive years is collected and compared between different regions of Java.
3. Everything that is displayed brings value to the problem being addressed and helps the reader to understand the problem.
4. There is functional interactivity in the way the data is being displayed. The data flows from one activity to the next. There is continuity in the display.
5. The labels are clear and easy to follow.

Mission to Mars - Calvin Lai

This visualization on Tableau illustrates the history of spaceship missions being sent to Mars, featuring both successful and unsuccessful missions. This Tableau also shows the amount of spacecrafts being operated.

1. The problem that is addressed is detailing the number of unsuccessful missions that has occurred in history. While there isn't a straightforward solution, it is mentioned that every 26 months, Mars and Earth will be at their closest, which can indicate a higher chance of a successful mission.

2. I feel like this is a good way to display the information. There are a bit of notes on the side for the viewer to read in order to understand the problem and the potential solutions towards the problem.

3. As I mentioned above, I believe this data adds value. It may look simple, but each red/gray circles on the graphs can really show how impactful the data is.

4. Yes, the graph is interactable. By hovering over each circle on the first graph, you can see which country had a mission, whether it was successful or not. By looking at the second graph and hovering over the circles, you can see the exact details of the mission's name, it's intent, and the cause of it's failure (if it did fail). One example is an Orbiter that is designed to have enough fuel to be operational until 2035.

5. Because there are only two labels that is worth noting, it is clear to understand.

This visualization that I looked at was the "World Economic Forum - Global Risk 2021 by Harim Jung. This looks at the risks after COVID-19, in terms of the economy as a whole.

1.What problem/question does this solve/answer?
This Tableau addresses the issues that we have faced economically since the pandemic, especially in 2021. The lungs in her illustration have all of the issues within them that the pandemic has caused ecumenically - things such as poverty, unemployment, recessions, etc. She divides the lungs into two sections - greatest concern for the world on one side and most likely fallout for the world. The mock-ribs in the illustration is what holds the lungs in place - the entire global risk that we are faced with. At the bottom of the illustration, she has color coded each economic risk and estimated what present and future dangers this creates.

2.Is this really the best way to display the information?
I think this is an effective way to display the information at hand. It is very detailed and thought out and easy to follow. It is also appealing to look at and see the relation between COVID-19 and our "lungs" - the idea that we need to keep breathing even after all of the economic problems that the pandemic caused, so that we can come back from this.

3.Does everything add value?
Everything adds value because it all correlates and one section helps explain the next.

4.Is there functional interactivity?
There is no physical interactivity within the lungs - however you are able to click the image to make it bigger.

5.Are there clear labels?
The labels are clear and larger than all of the other writing. It also stands out on the navy background because the writing is mostly white.

1.What problem/question does this solve/answer?

Although this gives us a visual understanding of the temperature and climate change, it asks a question as well. Or at least, I ask the question of, how can we fix this?

2.Is this really the best way to display the information?

I believe that this is a perfect way to display this information. The colours correspond with the temperature rise give as well as it uses a dot graph so that it shows us the trend of the temperatures. It allows us to see that certain years and months that are clustered and then they gradually raise a little more each time.

3.Does everything add value?

I believe that it all adds value.

4.Is there functional interactivity?

There is, you are able to click on a certain button in time and then have that one highlighted while the rest dim. This allows for us to see an isolated point. If we see a year or month that was particularly hot, then we can hit the button and see why.

5.Are there clear labels?

All the labels are clear and genuinely seem to accurately depict what it explains or means to explain.

1) What problem/question does this solve/answer?
- Due to he complex structure and the large number of the railway tracks, many locals cannot seem to reach their final destination without a smartphone.

2) Is this really the best way to display the information?
- There is no better way of explaining or helping people understand a geographic place than provide them with a map. This map identifies every line running through the city with each represented with a different colour.

3) Does everything add value?
-Yes, of course it adds value as it is one of the simplest ways of simplifying the railway system. As mentioned in the title “without a phone” however, discarding the online maps that could display the way with personal directions, showing the blue print of the railways adds a major value.

4)Is there functional interactivity?
- Yes there is, you can press on any line of choice and it will highlight the line as well as show a small text box containing the name of the line and the specific station within the line pressed on. It will also show the entire path of the line from the starting point all the way until the end.

5)Are there clear labels?
-Yes, each line when clicked on is identified with a highlighted colour to avoid confusion. There is also a small white textbook that appears obtaining the name of the station in both English as well as Japanese.

Does everything add value?
I would say this image does add value because it displays the debt fluctuations.
