This is an activity we do at the beginning of the year in science. Students are given supplies, such as straws, tape, and popsicle sticks to create a bridge. They have to plan and sketch it first, and then they may get their materials to begin constructing. They learn team building skills and find out quickly that things don't always go as planned! But, I make a big deal about it not being just about how well their bridge works, but more about how well they work together when they encounter a problem. Dawn Bolcerek
