La contribución de la literatura infantil favorece al desarrollo social, emocional y cognitivo. En esta etapa, el/la niño/a comprende mucho más de lo que puede expresar, por eso es fundamental que esté presente la palabra del adulto/a, ya que la escucha de la lengua oral le permite al niño/a aprenderla.
Durante este periodo se trabajó mediante diversos recursos como cuentos cortos, poesías cortas y rimas. Dichos recursos literarios incentivan a las expresiones gestuales y al futuro desarrollo del lenguaje verbal que comienza con balbuceos y repeticiones de sílabas que en un inicio no tienen una intencionalidad, sino que se dan repetitivamente como producto de que comienzan a conocer sus voces y a partir de allí repiten esas entonaciones; luego van complejizándose hasta darles un valor comunicativo. La voz es una fuente inagotable de exploración para los/as bebés, los avances en la producción con este valioso “instrumento comunicativo” irá aumentando y así ampliarán paulatinamente su repertorio.
El/la niño/a está inmerso/a en un mundo sonoro (no solo de palabras sino también de sonidos), un mundo que le proporciona la posibilidad de expresarse y comunicarse, de conectarse culturalmente. Es por ello que en el jardín aprovechamos la importancia que esto tiene, para organizar la enseñanza.
