I've made some "I'm reading" signs in other themes besides mine. Which are Star Wars, of course. The teachers either laminate them or put them in a frame and then can add titles with a dry erase marker or small printouts of the book covers. Only gets the teachers that would read anyway but it's something.

I spent a lot of time reflecting on how I cloudless capture my struggling readers. I begin keeping a "stash" of my personal books that I bought before they were released on the shelves and I would pull students on the side that I knew would like them possible asking if they would want to preview them. They knew they were my books first off not the and that I truly counted on them to tell me whether I should buy for the library of not. I also allowed students to eat breakfast in the library and read as well before school.

I have always had a small enclave of readers, but I would like to see reading enthusiasm spread throughout the building. One of my goals for next year is to begin laying the foundation for our reading culture. At the end of this past school year I sent an email asking for staff "shelfies" and have received three already. I'll send another email at the beginning of the year, and probably make an announcement at our opening faculty meeting. I will post these on a bulletin board outside the library. My admin is on board, so I pretty much have free reign... I think I'll also use some quotes and stats from this book to promote reading. ~ Wendy Scalfaro, Central New York
