News spread quickly and more people joined in and started doing sit ins in different cities. This protest played a important role in ending segregation in public place and even got the attention of the civil rights movements.

    The Boynton v. Virginia decision (1960) was a Supreme Court ruling that declared racial segregation in public transportation, like buses and bus terminals, illegal. Bruce Boynton was arrested for sitting in a "whites only" area, and the Court said states couldn't enforce segregation in places that are meant to serve everyone. This decision was important for black people gaining more rights.
