The first song I chose was "Three O'clock in the morning". This song is played at one of Gatsby's parties after a long night of dancing. In the song it says "I could just keep on dancing forever dear with you". This is relatable to Gatsby as this is the way he feels towards Daisy. He wants to just keep on dancing forever with Daisy so this song really reflects Gatsby's feelings. The song that most relates to this from modern music is "Daylight" by Maroon 5. "Daylight" is a pop song made in 2012. Lyrics that pertain to Gatsby are "Tonight i want to hold you so close". This is like how Gatsby just wants to hold Daisy close and never let her go.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXKJfKzIqrY

The second song i chose from the book was "Love Nest" by John Steel. This song is played in Gatsby's house while him and Daisy are revisiting their memories from the past. In the song it says "Just a love nest, cozy and warm, like a dove nest, down on the farm." Gatsby is trying to make his house warm and appealing to Daisy. The song portrays Gatsby's longing to make the house feel at home to Daisy. This song in Gatsby is most relatable to "Here Is A House" by Depeche Mode. The song came out in 1986 and talks about a house where people come together. "Body and soul come together, as we come closer together." This is what Gatsby is trying to do with him and Daisy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zANpSt9XwK4

The last song n Great Gatsby that i chose was "Ain't We Got Fun Tonight". This song was one of the most popular songs of the roaring twenties. Its also the song Gatsby has Kilpsinger play the first time Daisy comes to Gatz's house. in the song it says "Ev'ry morning, ev'ry evening Ain't we got fun? Not much money, Oh, but honey Ain't we got fun?" At this time he is trying to impress her and it seems fitting he would play the most popular song of the time period. This song relates closest to "All Night" by Big Boi. All night is just a really upbeat song and very popular in this generation. If i was trying to impress a girl with my fancy house this is definitely what i would have playing in the background.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckKz27RHvxQ

Music in the 1920's was a major deal. This time period was when a lot of the culture changed. Women started dressing more scandalous and everyone went to parties and danced differently. Music was a huge part of the change because it is what the people would get loose to. It would get them in that party mood to be careless and have fun. Music became a huge part of the lifestyle in the 20's which is why it is seen so often in "The Great Gatsby."
