Brainstorming

I believe that my first phase in the process of creating an article was the brainstorming. I initially had no idea what to do, what to start and develop. I felt lost, as my friends started to develop their ideas. I decided to do something related to writing, because I wanted to improve my writing skills and I barely wrote anything that was not related to school. I thought about the ongoing war in Israel, and I knew so little about it, I decided to deepen my knowledge on it. After reading much about it, I remembered that I was having an enrichment of psychology, specifically about criminology and decided to connect both of these topics I was currently engaged in. Then I thought how much they connected, how war is so tied to the human mind. Finally I had my idea, the reasons and consequences of global conflicts, contrasting ideas with psychology and political aspects.

Development

After having the idea of a topic to write about I noticed that I actually needed to write. I got anxious, I had never written an article before, especially about global disagreements. I was completely out of my comfort zone, I used to write romantic short stories, and I was barely skilled. However I came to the conclusion that I would never learn unless if I just write. So that is what I did, I wrote and wrote and wrote. Although I hated everything I read, I felt out of place, none of my ideas were connecting and I felt like I couldn't portrait my ideas clearly. I reached to my teacher, expressing my anguishes, she said that for me to be able to improve my weaknesses I needed to first be able to finish my first draft, then go through it and modify what I felt it needed changing. Consequently that's what I did, and spend hours everyday focusing on the topics instead of the structure itself. I realized I had to research A LOT, a knew very little about global aspects, therefore I visited several sites daily, attaining the key concepts I needed to write about. I read about economical, religious, political, territorial and psychological conflicts. Finally seeing my article taking form.

Conclusion

When I finished my first draft I remember feeling like everything was wrong, and wanted to re write the whole thing. Again my teacher guided me saying to get feedback from teachers and re structure step by step. Therefore I asked feedback to some friends, english and history teachers and finally saw a lot of development. I had as an initial vision to write around 800 words. My fourth and final draft has currently 2200 words. I feel very proud of my overall work, I have discovered several areas of myself that I didn't knew before, interests about global issues and the human mind, that has developed profoundly my way of thinking and overall knowledge about our world. I plan to continue in this path, write about several more topics, and continue to enhance my skills because I know I can still improve a lot. I also became interested in illustrations, by designing a drawing with graphite, that reflected on my article. In conclusion, because of this project I discovered new areas of myself, enhanced my skills of writing, researching, brainstorming, drawings, seeking for help and being patient with myself.
