She then without hesitation grabbed her chromebook, googled the word and put her headphones on to listen to what the word was. This was so Awesome to see.

GREAT JOB MR.

Mr. Greenwell was teaching a math lesson on area of irregular shapes. This was such an engaging lesson for the students. He drew the shapes with sidewalk chalk outside for the students for solve. What a great opportunity to get them outside learning and give them a hands on learning experience. For students that needed extra help they had the shape on paper with a grid. Mr. Greenwell would remind struggling students to use strategies they learned in class to solve the problem (bridge). Students were paired up so that they could compare answers when they were finished with a problem and help one another if their answers did not match.
It was hard to leave when my time was up, I thoroughly enjoying being with his class.
Thanks for letting me come be with your class.

Great teaching and wonderful organization were all a part of my observation.
(It was a special treat to see the growth of several of my past students.)

Awesome things I observed:
- Giving specific, positive feedback to students by name for following his expectations (I could tell students knew exactly what he expected out of them).
- Having a student read the learning target at the beginning of class.
- Let the students know at the beginning of class what they would be doing for the entire period. Then, explained what that will look like and exactly what they needed to do.
- Students were very engaged with what he was talking about/demonstrating on the music Chrome lab.
- LOVE how he explained in kid friendly terms what he was wanting to do with his song.
- Lots of opportunities to respond to keep students engaged.
- Great with the kids. I felt a very warm, calming vibe in the room the entire time (I can tell students really love him and are comfortable).
- Use of vocabulary: contrasting (explained it, gave example, had them do it)
- Made what he was doing relatable to students (blizzard example)
- Great modeling for students.
- I do, we do, you do!
- Checking in on students and casually and asking if they need any help.

I loved watching Mrs. Crisp in reading this morning. One of my favorite things was the choral reading. She read the text first, and then had the students choral read aloud. Not everyone participated, and I think that's fine. But it was wonderful to hear the kids reading, picking up on pacing and inflection from Mrs. Crisp, and simply enjoying the book (Love That Dog). I also loved hearing the students make great connections to the text, ask questions, and make predictions.

From the personal narrative anchor charts and the graphic organizer, to the engaging lesson and to Ms. Clark's animated engaging style I saw the the students blossom as writers. Each student was eager to write their ideas and share with me and the class. It was wonderful to experience. I just loved it. Thank you Ms. Clark for allowing me to join in. All of her kiddos were throughly engaged and were learning to read with such an excitement. Ms. Turner was very encouraging with her students when they seemed to struggle and gave them tools to use to help decode the difficult words. I learned so many new strategies that I can not wait to put into use! I was so engaged that I think I may have stayed over my time. Thank you so much Ms. Turner, I hope that I get the opportunity to come back and learn more awesomeness from you! :)
