Jasmine and her friends are playing hide and seek in an old house. Jasmine is it and hears a weird noise. It sounded like someone walking around but nobody else was home and her friends should’ve not have been moving in there hiding spots. Then she hears a faint crying noise. It was her friend Stephanie. But when she was about to speak Stephanie Grabbed her arm and turned around. She said “It said, you have beautiful eyes, beautiful eyes.” And when Jasmine looked at her Stephanie’s eyes were gone. Traumatized she ran away calling for help but there was no phone reception. Then she found her brother who saw others without eyes and try to call the cops but it doesn't work. Then the prologue finishes. Rea and her family had just moved into a new town called whispering pines. When she gets there she meets a girl named Brandi, and her parents own a ghost hunting job. And Brandi says that she’d show her around the town and her school. Then the story moves to Brandi’s brother prospective. Brandi wishes he said hi to his new neighbor. But he decides it’s not worth it. Then some couple comes to his door as his mom answers it. They say that they’re kid is missing and Caden’s mom says she’ll help them.

The book changes to Rea’s prospective and she goes to her school. She meets a teacher who sends her daughter Alyssa to show Rea around the school. Then Alyssa’s friend Vivian came to them and helped show Rea around too. Then when they’re class stared Caden walked in. And Rea realized that was her neighbor. When He came into the room everyone started whispering. Then Rea asked Vivian why everyone was whispering. Vivian said that he was a weird/mysterious kid. People thought that he was the reason why people had gone missing like his brother and other.
